I'd love to see a Merseyrail route. I live on Merseyside (The Wirral to be exact) & have used the Merseyrail line all my life. The "Wirral Line" Loop system is the biggest underground network outside of London & has a fascinating history. In the next year, the excisting Class 507/508's are set to be replaced by the Stadler 777's. I think the Merseyrail route has enourmous potential.
I have suggested for the Northern Line, but I could get behind anything MerseyRail. Brings back memories of heading to Liverpool for the football. However I doubt it would be out of the game's capability to eventually have the entire network.
It would seem logical to make a Merseyrail route; Pros: -Metro style operations that are well suited to TSW. -Multiple branches to explore giving plenty of interest and variety. -Underground section of the route under Liverpool city centre being especially interesting. -Suitable length (Wirral or Northern lines come in at under 40 miles with journey times up to an hour). -Busy timetable that would integrate well with the upcoming rush hour feature/bundle thing. -Use of the PEP bodyshell common with the Class 313/314 (should make it easier to develop). -Also as only the Class 507/508 run on the route you can get away with only including one type of unit. -New Class 777 could feature as DLC. Cons: -Merseyrail license needs to be obtained (no previous DLCs in both TS and TSW to suggest otherwise). -Lots of stations to model (nothing too drastic but more than featured on most TSW routes to date I think). Personally I would like to see the Wirral line so we can do the Liverpool loop, driving from Birkenhead under the River Mersey, looping round the city tunnel and back under the river again (allowing a return journey without switching cabs). You might also get away with backdating to BR days to overcome the licensing hurdle (Class 508s still operated back then).
I agree, however on the BR Part, that would make all 3 Northern English routes British Rail, with no post-privatisation.
Yes, something northern and modern would be nice. Maybe Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Victoria with a sprinter, pacer or those new 195/331 things.
Yeah, agree with all those Pro's. Also, having the new 777's as DLC would totally work, since they're are not operational yet, so could come at a later date.
