Reasons I think Merseyrail would be good for TSW2 I think Merseyrail would be a great edition to Train Sim World 2 for a lot of reasons. First of all, the entire network features a wide range of destinations you can visit across Merseyside. The Northern line features three branches traveling from Hunts Cross to Southport, Liverpool Central to Ormskirk and Liverpool Central to Kirkby. The Wirral line features destinations to Chester, Ellesmere Port, West Kirkby and New Brighton which also connect up to Liverpool Central on a single deep level platform on the Wirral line loop part of the network. A diagram will be left at the bottom of this thread featuring the route map of the network. Second of all, the rolling stock currently operating on the network would be another great edition to the game. The current class 507/508 EMU'S have been operating for just over 40 years now and just like the recently released Cathcart Circle route featuring the class 314, these trains also belong with the PEP family of electric multiple units. Some features on the Merseyrail network are also rather interesting to know about because not many people know about these. First of all, class 507/508s can be switched around from the Northern or Wirral lines via the stock interchange line which is not open to passengers. It links both the Northern and Wirral lines together between Liverpool Central on the Northern line and James Street on the Wirral line. Second of all, one of the platforms at James Street is rarely used nowadays unless there's an emergency on the Wirral loop or if the loop is closed for engineering works. The Merseyrail network is a commuter based system operating 56 trains on the Northern and Wirral lines as a whole and are commonly stored in Kirkdale and Birkenhead North Depots respectively for maintenance and overnight storage until the start of service again. Trains can also be stored at New Brighton, West Kirby and Southport sidings for storage. On a typical working day prior to the pandemic, stations outside of Liverpool would see trains operating at every 15 minute intervals Monday to Saturday and every 30 minutes on Sunday's. However the current Monday to Saturday sees trains every 20 minutes apart but Sunday services have retained the 30 minute frequency. However on the underground stations, trains run more frequently and similar to a tube style system. As an example, if you miss a train on the loop section of the Wirral line at Moorfields and you went 3 stops to James Street, you could be waiting at least 4-5 minutes for the next train but Sunday services are up to every 9-10 minutes on the loop section. The same applies for Northern line services. If this route is possible for the future, it would be such a wonderful edition to have in TSW2.
Excellent idea and furthermore one of these trains can layer on to Southeast high speed the Class 508 if the Community wanted to see what the route look liked before 12th December 2008 when Class 508s were retired from SEHS service. Videos are by B.P.M.R
I desperately want to see Merseyrail in game. It seems to get quite a few requests too. Hopefully DTG are taking notice.
I don’t think anyone really wants to see that. It would be in Merseyrail Livery for a start, as well as being out of date. When you suggest trains layering on other routes you have to understand that liveries don’t change when they appear on those other routes, so they would always look out of place with a different TOC’s livery. Layering or substitution on routes has to be with something that makes sense. A Merseyrail train on SEHS makes no sense and therefore can’t happen.
There's a big difference between layering and scenario planner. You always seem to say "train X can layer onto route X with livery X" be it a pacer or sprinter for tvl, or this, without thinking that they don't re-livery trains for layers. As for re-skinning the train (harrymonty06) a theoretical 2nd timetable (like GWE) with the 508 etc. Would be decent, but if your using livery editor a lot of AI trains will remain in the MerseyRail livery because of how it works. However overall all I support this suggestion. Merseyrail is a wonderful network and we need to see it.
