This line really focuses on commuter action.

This would be the Metra NCS from Chicago Union Station to O'Hare Transfer Station 18.6 Miles away. It goes through multiple interlocking plants including A5 which is now closed and A2 Western Avenue which is active and very busy still.

You could actually make that an aspect of the game. The player could be in charge with running the tower during the rush hour and would have to line switches and route the trains correctly and without delay as well as setting signals. I think it would be fascinating to include that into the map. They were once common in Chicago but now they are being torn down quite fast. Preserving that into the game would be awesome.

The line would also include the Metra coach yard located at Western Avenue for switching the Ogilvie Transportation Center as well as CUS.

The second line is the Metra UP North line from Ogilvie Transportation Center to Evanston Central Street Station 13.3 miles away.

This way you could focus on running commuter operations and freight wouldn't be as important. If you want to add freight there is a small yard at Clybourn which serves the industrial areas around there and you could do transfer work to Schiller Park and drop off trains at that yard.

Motive power is MP36 in Metra color and for freight GP38-2 in UP. Passenger cars are galley cars with a cab car on the rear, so you could use the same basic locomotive package as the Caltrains.

It's UP so you already have the rights to use their brand, and I think Metra would be good with it too.
