if I remember correctly, the Metrolink San Bernardino line is set in roughly the 2019 era. Might be pushing it a little bit, but a really cool update/expansion to this route would be the extension to Redlands University from downtown San Bernardino. As Metrolink operates a weekday express service from Redlands to LA Union Station, it would be really cool to see this expansion added along with the Arrow trains running between San Bernardino downtown and Redlands University. Already in the timetable is the train from Redlands University to LA and back in the evening. I know the Arrow is not that popular, but it would be really cool to actually have this expansion and operate out to Redlands with both Metrolink and the Arrow.
What licensing issues? DTG has a decent relationship now with Metrolink, giving them spotlight with 2 core routes the last 2 years. If anything the fact that the Arrows line is such a short route with not many stops would be the more likely reason DTG would not to make an extension for SBL. (On top of the debate of extensions themselves.)
I love how everyone always jumps to licensing issues. That’s not always the case and I agree with you in this instance. I think the bigger issue would be It’s such a short route, but it would be a nice little extension. I know they’ve done similar things and other instances more specifically with other German routes, adding more to them
