The Metropolitan Line of the London Underground is the system (and the world)'s oldest Subway Line. It opened 160 years ago in 1863, and has continued to serve London and the Northwestern parts of the Greater London area ever since. I will also be suggesting the Chiltern Railways line to Aylesbury from Marylebone. This suggestion will be set in the modern era, with the S Stock running services on the Metropolitan Line (and Circle / H&C) Firstly, here's a run through of the stations and yards. Key Bold - Underground & Chiltern Italics - Freight Yard, Siding, or Depot Metropolitan Only Jubilee Line Only Jubilee + Met Piccadilly + Met Circle and Hammersmith & City Lines + Metropolitan Circle, H&C, Jubilee and Met Aylesbury Vale Parkway Aylesbury Stoke Mandeville Wendover Great Missenden Amersham ----------------- Chesham Branch Chesham ----------------- Chalfont & Latimer Chorleywood Rickmansworth ----------------- Watford Branch Watford Croxley ----------------- Moor Park Northwood Northwood Hills Pinner North Harrow ----------------- Uxbridge Branch Uxbridge Uxbridge Depot Hillingdon Ickenham Ruislip Ruislip Manor Eastcote Rayners Lane West Harrow ----------------- Harrow-on-the-Hill Northwick Park Preston Road ----------------- Jubilee Line: Wembley - Stanmore Stanmore Stanmore Sidings Canons Park Queensbury Kingsbury ----------------- Wembley Park (Shared with Jubilee) Neasden Dollis Hill Willesden Green Kilburn West Hampstead Finchley Road ----------------- London Marylebone (Chiltern) ----------------- Swiss Cottage St John's Wood Baker Street Great Portland Street Euston Square Kings Cross St Pancras Farringdon Barbican Moorgate Liverpool Street Aldgate To conclude, this suggestion would have the; Metropolitan Line from Aldgate to Uxbridge, Watford, Chesham and Amersham Piccadilly Line where it overlaps the Metropolitan Line Jubilee Line where it overlaps the Metropolitan, as well as the Stanmore Branch from Wembley Circle Line where it overlaps the Metropolitan Hammersmith and City Line where it overlaps the Metropolitan Chiltern Railways from London Marylebone to Aylesbury. Map of the Underground Lines featured in this suggestion. Doesn't show the Chiltern Line. Moving on, let's take a look at rolling stock that would be available to this route. Chiltern Railways Chiltern offers two potential rolling stock choices for this line: The BR Class 165, sister class to the Class 166 featured in the Great Western Express. This DMU was built between 1990 and 1992 at the British Rail Engineering Limited (BREL) site in York. Originally built for Network Southeast, the Class 165 fleet is split between Chiltern Railways and Great Western Railway. Chiltern have the 165/0 fleet, with 28 having two carriages, and 11 having three. This is probably the most likely option here for Chiltern, as it can be adapted from the existing Class 166 in-game. These are numbered 165001-165039. Unit 165309 at Marylebone The alternative option is the Class 168 Clubman DMU, which is more related to the Turbostar Family. London Underground I'll give these a proper introduction soon, as I've been working away at this suggestion for about an hour now. Watch this space. S Stock The S Stock is made up of two variants, the 7-car S7 Stock, and the 8-car S8 Stock. There are 133 S7 Stocks, and 59 S8 Stocks. An S8 Stock at Amersham Use By Line Metropolitan (S8) Circle (S7) Hammersmith & City (S7) 1973 Stock It may look similar to the Bakerloo's 1972, but it's not quite the same. This operates Piccadily Line services, and would be found on the Uxbridge Branch of this route. 1996 Stock The Jubilee Line's 1996 is a little more unique. As a much younger line, it's rolling stock does reflect this, and the 1996 stock is equipped with all of the Underground's most modern systems, and works with the Jubilee Line Extension's Platform Doors system. I understand that 4 (3 if you don't count the 165) brand new trains is a hard undertaking, but I don't imagine this entire suggestion would come to life, considering how much would be in it. Unfortunately, with the amount of overlapping lines on the Metropolitan, this comes naturally. The Bakerloo 1972 stock could fill for the 1973 stock if needed, though. Layers I think it could be an interesting thing here as well to have some Stock Hauls of both Underground and Chiltern stock using the ROG 37 or Class 66. I would also imagine the RHTT has a part to play here. Possibly a Railtour as well? I know there's a heritage railway not far from Aylesbury, further up the line on the freight extension - which in itself would bring freight layers. The route also crosses over the West Coast Mainline near Northwick Park. Railhead Treatment Train (RHTT) ROG Class 37 Freight (Class 66) Railtour(?) Bakerloo 1972 Stock (if needed) BR Class 700 (Visible at West Hampstead, potentially) WCML AI (66, ROG 37, etc) Now, finally for now (don't worry, I will expand on this suggestion), we come to the Services: Italics denotes an AI Only Service Chiltern London M'bone - Aylesbury - 1tph, Class 165/168 London M'bone - Aylesbury Vale P'way - 1tph, Class 165/168 LU: Metropolitan LU: Jubilee (Baker Street - Stanmore) Stratford (Baker St in-game) - Stanmore - 18tph (peak) or 12tph (off-peak) Stratford (Baker St.) - West Hampstead - 4tph, all times. Stratford (Baker St.) - Willesden Green - 4tph, all times Stratford (Baker St.) - Wembley Park - 4tph, all times LU: Piccadily (Rayners Lane - Uxbridge) Cockfosters (Ray' Lane) - Uxbridge - 3tph Cockfosters - Rayners Lane - 3tph LU: Circle (Aldgate - Baker Street) Hammersmith (Baker St) - (Aldgate) Edgware Road via Victoria - 6tph LU: H'smith & City: (Aldgate - Baker St.) Hammersmith (Baker St) - (Aldgate) Barking - 6tph With that, for now, this suggestion is complete. I will (as I have said) come back to this and improve it. I just want this done for the evening. Thanks for reading as always, and feel free to give me your feedback!
This would definitely make for an interesting route, my only fear would be getting the Chiltern Railways branding in-game since recently all Chiltern branded DLCs were removed on the steam store for TSC, similar to what happened with Cross Country and Arriva Trains Wales.
Really excellent idea but it might be unbranded for the Chiltern Railway part making it 1 to 1 with TSC
DTG mentioned in the last roadmap that one of the main factors for route choice is licensing, so they probably wouldn’t make an unbranded route, and personally, me & many others would probably not be interested without realistic branding.
My word, all these London Underground route suggestions! I do hope dtg take a note of this and go out and make another one
