The article says the info comes from the head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty. The same info is posted in other major sites like IGN.
I think if the info was not correct MS would have said something already.

I saw that they're making a Series S with the storage (and such) of a Series X now - basically only leaving the cost, versatility and some performance stuff as the difference.

So I think Xbox One's days were numbered as soon as that came out. I'd imagine developers will now follow suit in their numbers. Especially when Sony - inevitably - do so.

Got to admit the biggest flaw with series x is the storage, 1tb plus whatever gets taken for system stuff really is a tiny amount and the price for more is not at all reasonable in my view.

1TB is not enough? Have I misunderstood? 1TB seems like a lot to me...

Depends on what kind of games and how many you have installed. A lot of the triple a titles these days are over 100gb so if you have like 8 or 9 of those, storage space gets filled up pretty quickly.

100? Wow. TSW is only 5GB per route. I wonder why they are so big.

Also how long does it take to download them??? (Can you tell I am new to this? I've had a Switch, Wii, and a phone before coming across TSW...)

I have a series x, I have 10 games on the internal storage and at 89.8% full (81.9GB of 802.0GB free) thats in quite a few cases too low to not allow 1 more game, theirs many over 100GB

    my TSW3 is 193.3GB

For reference the 10 games are all Series X

    AC Valhalla
    Bus Sim 21
    Cities Skylines remaster
    Enlisted
    Fernbus
    Hogwarts legacy
    Jurassic world 2
    Flight sim
    TSW3
    Tropico 6

edit: I would at this point consider it full as I just don’t know what size updates I could get for those games and need to leave space for that, also to allow a few more dlcs for those games.

I also have an external storage device (only allows 360/Xbox one games it’s 93.7% full (58.4GB free of 931.5GB) 28 Games.

Oh good. Maybe I can get around to playing the games I already have without getting distracted by new ones. . Seriously, this point always comes along and I am surprised that it has taken so long.

I don't play on a console. For many of the triple a titles, they are much more graphically intensive, use modern tech, make full use of the latest gpus, ray tracing, large detailed environments, etc that makes them close to or over 100gb. Other games also have high definition texture packs which also adds in a significant chunk. I remember modern warfare 2019 taking up at least 150gb (we could uninstall certain content but still hefty). Campaign, mp, warzone. That download took close to an hour for me at my download speed of around 30mb/s.

My TSW3 is taking up 248.2gb on my internal harddrive on my series X, but I do have everything and that will continue to get bigger.

I have all the British DLC except the RHTT, WSR Class 52 and original IoW, and my train sim world takes up 85 GB on my series s.

TBF the console has had a 10 year run, which is pretty good (I think only the Wii beats it so far with 14 years of game releases)

So ex æquo with the PS3, the console was released in 2006 and the last game sold in 2020. Im glad both Microsoft and Sony will stop soon producing games for last generation as it’s easy to get a PS5 or the XBSX/S, and developers will use the max potential delivered by current gen consoles to have the best looking game possible ( graphically but also with good performance )
