Hello, I am having some crazy dips in framerate every now and then without my gpu, cpu or ram being used to 100%. Actually far from it. It's there a workaround for it?
I'm afraid you'll just have to put up with it. There's only so much you can do from your end before it becomes an issue with the game itself. When are you experiencing these?
Mostly when looking ahead. When I'm looking from the front of the loco back, the framerate is stable. I guess it's something popping up in the distance or something. As I said nothing in my system is struggling. The game is installed on an m.2. I remember there was an option in unreal tournament 2004 to load everything into the ram before playing so that there would be no stutters when a new model comes into sight. That would be helpful now.
Micro stutters? In TSW? Surely not! As Jack has essentially said they are just one of the 'quirks' of the game.
Funnily enough, it's one of those problems I actually don't mind, unless it means a crash is imminent.
The feature you are talking about is precaching. The engine does this to some degree, but there is simply too much data to load into RAM all at once.
I reduced my frame rate to 50 fps: I haven't noticed a difference in quality and I don't get stutters any more.
I actually did limit the framerate for that reason, too. But it did not help much. How do I get the game to use DX12. I'd like to try it out.
