Does such a route exist in Train Sim? There's a few set around that area that include Manchester, but I can find none that allow a drive from Manchester Piccadilly to Chester via the Mid Cheshire line. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mid-Cheshire_line Does anyone know about one that's passed me by? Thanks.
I have that. A great route, but it's set in the 70s and also doesn't include the Mid Cheshire Line that runs through Stockport, then Altrincham and through Cheshire to Chester. You get to Chester via Crewe in Wottawally's route. Thanks for replying though. I don't think my OP was perhaps clear enough.. I've edited it now.
Neither the Liverpool to Manchester Victoria and Manchester Piccadilly- BR Blue Period: v2.14 or the South Lancashire and North Cheshire route get you to Chester via Crewe. The route from Manchester to Chester is via Earlestown, Warrington Bank Quay and Helsby. It does include Crewe to Chester but nothing in to Crewe from anywhere else - yet. Peter
Sorry, was thinking of this.... https://www.wotawallysbits.co.uk/nwc-brblue Which does go to Chester via Crewe. I know.. which is why I was asking if there's a route via the mid Cheshire line... Which goes via Stockport, Altrincham, Knutsford etc...
I understood your question and I know the line you are talking about. Used to work down there in the late 70's to early 90s But so far it has not been made in the game - AFAIK Peter
A shame... a great line, with lots of nice CLC period station buildings etc. ...plus a chance to use some Northern liveried Pacers and 150s. If only I had the time I'd have a go at route making Oh well... only 15 years to retirement (sigh).
There is a roadmap on the Wotawally site for the South Lancashire and Cheshire route. Crewe to Chester is number 10 on the roadmap and Crewe to Manchester the Mid Cheshire line is number 12. They are on number 4 at the moment so it could be some time away.
Let's hope he gets there then! His routes are pretty good... although the NWC Coastal BR Blue route has some signalling issues... like giving you a SPAD when you go through a on distant signal outside of Abergele. An easy fix though.
The South Lancashire and North Cheshire route is being made by Andy Freeman & Nick Hudson and they are doing an amazing job Recent pictures are here https://www.flickr.com/photos/167137878@N03/sets/72157704083164142/page1 The thread for the route is on the Railworks Forum which Andy set up after Steam closed theirs https://railworks.freeforums.net/thread/6/south-lancs-north-cheshire-blue?page=21 Wotawally just has the route and a number of others on his site Peter
