The Midland Mainline has quit some (AI) layers on other routes, so I'm wondering if this route is worth buying. On Xbox, 3rd party DLC are almost never on sale, so I'm afraid I have to buy it for the full price. A question specific for Xbox players, do the HST and Class158 suffering from popping audio?
I play on series x and thats one route i dont get it on. Its really nice route as well you got express services stoppers and little bit of freight.
the route isn’t as long as it could or should be but there’s a nice mix of stuff on there, i’d recommend getting it
Thanks and good to know there is no popping. It seems like the popping on diesel trains is pretty common and loud, so this is a nice exception then. I watched some footage on youtube, the route seems to be in a quite rural area, but it also looks a little boring.
You mean nice mix with the default trains, or with layers? I have SEHS, so I believe the 66 + wagons is layering from that route. I do not have older TSW and TSW2 routes, other then GWE and BML.
Was playing it earlier for the first time in ages. Kinda short but with the visual updates it’s had since launch it looks great and there’s plenty to do in it. Also runs great on Xbox and adds plenty to other routes.
I looked at the price history, it was only once on sale, I believe for something like 25 Euro. So yes, this is my dilemma, do I want to buy it for full price. Main reason are the layers on Glossop, SEHS and ECML.
Glossop it's one playable job. Ecml 4 full length runs with hst and about 30 158 runs from Peterborough to Grantham. I dont remember it on sehs tho. Also layers into Manchester airport and a few depot moves on crewe to Birmingham route.
I do really like the route although it's length is slightly disappointing and I'm really not a fan of driving the HSTs. The route itself and the 158 are good. The HST is good quality nonetheless. A good route.
It's one of my favourite routes tbh, although the lack of AI at Nottingham, Derby and Leicester leaves it feeling a little empty. Having said that, it's a good performing route that doesn't seem affected by blurry textures.
You also get the 158 as AI (plus some siding moves) at Exeter on Riviera as a stand in for the SWT 159s
Well it looks like, everyone is positive about the route, it give layers on 3 routes I own and it's diesel. So in the end, I'm afraid I have to buy this full price... Thanks all for your imput!
Not got round to getting Cargo Line 2 yet but believe it adds quite a bit to the route at Mountsorrel.
The route is okay, but showing its age and despite the work done after release still has quite a few visual issues. For the money, it's really not that long and should have gone north to Sheffield or south to Bedford for a decent run. The VP185 HST sounds good though especially if you open the cab doors. 158 was okay but the sounds got nerfed at some point so not quite as it was. Personally I would suggest wait for a sale.
i got it using an xmas gift card and played it maybe twice. just didn't fall in love with it and the layers it adds to other routes didn't make it worth it IMO. wait for a sale i'd say
The thing is, 3rd party routes are almost never on sale on Xbox. As far as I know, only on ECML the layer adds playable services, the rest is AI. So because of this, I asked myself and the forum, is this route worth the money with only the HST and 158 playable.
i'd say not at full price to be honest...but sounds like the majority disagree with me and maybe i should give it another chance. it just wasn't busy enough for me
The 158 is playable on MAC, albeit only short runs between Piccadilly and Stockport And there's some short siding/depot moves on Riviera and Birmingham to Crewe
From the YouTube footage I watched, it seems not that busy and you only have 2 trains and freight, so on that point I get you.
Would be great to get the Voyager/XC 170 layered in but appreciate from a Skyhook perspective it’s a lot of work to add someone else’s products to the route.
