With the addition of random events to the game, I think there could be the opportunity to add a version of career mode based on playing in timetable mode and working a train driver shift. This could work by starting in the Booking On office and have to sign in be given your list of trains to drive, any info on speed restrictions and then make your way to your first train. Then complete your shift and get a score depending on how you perform including responding to random events. For WCML South, there is a booking on office at Bletchley, so you'd start here and book on. Maybe take a train out of the sidings or an existing service north to MK or south to Euston. Your shift might have you driving a predetermined series of services during which random events may occur. You'll need to complete your shift and then get a score based on how you went. Shifts could maybe vary in length with you being able to choose a short, medium or long shift. You could maybe select from an early, middle or late shift too. Shifts would be specific to a class of train. I guess this could be done as a scenario too, but I think the random events mean it is a different experience and way of playing the game. Sort of a combination of story mode and scenarios. The variety of class of trains, shift length and time of day with random events thrown in I think make this a way of playing that is immersive and simulates being a train driver. It will give a different experience each time extendinding game play interest. Keen to hear what others think.
