Mini Tutorial On Using Normal Maps In Materials

    Hey guys! So there are two kinds of normal maps, DirextX and OpenGL. UE4 uses DirectX. You can convert between them by inverting the green channel of your map texture, but there are other ways. For more info, have a look at this guy's video:

    With that out of the way, setup for a texture you want to use as a normal map is a bit different, you'll need to change the compression settings in the texture, like so:

    and change the sample type in the texture sample node in the material, thusly:

    Lastly, there are many ways to make a normal map, with free or paid software. I've had success with something called "Awesome Bump."
