I've been plagued by Out of Memory messages for years on both my desktop pc and laptop. TS would load fine and allow me to move through menus etc without any problems but as soon as I clicked the Start button it would instantaneously crash and I get the Out of Memory message. I tried all the usual things to fix it, the only thing that worked was physically disconnecting from the internet. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago. I got my pc upgraded with a new m/b, AMD5800x cpu and 32 gb ram. Kept my old 1080ti as it still compares well with all but the most expensive gpus. One of the first things I did was reinstall steam and TS2020 and sure enough, as soon as I clicked Start it crashed - even worse, the workaround of disconnecting from my router no longer worked. I tried a few of the usual fixes, bearing in mind this is a fresh install with fresh W10 and fresh TS2020, again, nothing got rid of the crash to desktop. Then, a miracle..... For some unknown reason yesterday I tried once again and to my utter amazement there was no crash and I found myself sat in the cab and ready to go. Not only that, with my new cpu I was able to max out the settings and experience smooth gameplay without the irritating periodic stutters as scenery loads thanks to the super fast disk it's installed on. I honestly haven't changed anything but I did notice that my weekly Windows update had been installed since I'd last unsuccessfully tried to run TS and a number of things including some relating to Defender had been installed. I strongly suspect that something in the Windows update fixed my particular problem, Lord knows what, but I am now a very happy camper and rediscovering TS2020 as its meant to be enjoyed!
