    Route Length:
    ~146 km (91 miles)

    Rolling Stock:
Modern: BR 246 or BR 650 (new), BR 612 (remastered)
DR: BR 01.5, BR 52.80, BR 220, BR 232 (layered)

Gameplay: RE services, with some RB, IC and freight

    Scenery: Forests of Thuringia

Licenses: DB, Erfurter Bahn (for RB 21)

    Time Period: Any

    Similar Add-ons:
Maintalbahn (unelectrified route with BR 642)
Tharandter Rampe (route with BR 612)

    Why this route:
This route would introduce another unelectrified line to TSW, with a mix of double and single track sections through the dense forests of Thuringia. At roughly 91 miles it is fairly long, but this should be made easier due to most or route being countryside. The route would begin at Gera, unique in that it is one of the largest German cities with no electrified lines. For the other end I have chosen Eisenach - this would allow us to do loco swaps for IC 51 at Gotha, where electric locos are changed for diesel ones and vice versa. This would allow for the inclusion of a BR 246, which would make a nice change from all the electric TRAXX's. As well as the 4x daily IC 51 services, there would be RE services including RE 1, RE 3 and RE 7 (using the BR 612) going between Erfurt and Gera.

Alternatively, if 4 services a day with a new loco isn't enough, it could come with a BR 650 Regio-Shuttle instead. In this case the route could be the same as RE 3 - trains would start at Erfurt, split at Gera, and then head off north east to Altenberg and south to Greiz.

If an Erfurter Bahn license was obtained, RB 21 could also be depicted. This would be a nice change from DB red trains.

    Eras
Another option is to set it in the East German Deutsche Reichsbahn era (anywhere from 1945 - 1989). In this case you could include steam locos such as the BR 01.5 and BR 52.80, and/or East German diesel locos such as the BR 220 and BR 232 (since TSG are already working on a BR 232, the 232 would layer in rather than be included).
