Not too much to ask as this is an eagerly anticipated add on.

So just a few points to raise…

1. Is £33 now the standard price for routes that come with new trains, or is it applied just to third party add ons deemed to be above average quality?

2. Why no pre release purchase discount (again)?

3. How does this route shape up performance wise, given the ongoing issue particularly with sound squelching that really ruins the electric traction experience?

4. Are the Krokodil sounds from original source material or synthesised?

5. Any homage to Barney of Crotrainz fame, who was renowned throughout the growing train sim community in the early to mid 00’s for his love of Krokodils, but sadly perished in a road traffic accident some years ago?

 

How will the draw distance look like on Series X? Will it be reduced and if, to which extent? Would it be possible to create some screenshots for comparison?

 

Is conductor mode included?

 

Actually one more from me. Any humorous references to the hard plastic seating in the original Silberlinge stock?!

 

Any chance of getting a ÖBB 1044 or 1042?

 

What is the performance like on PS5? In particular, are blurry textures and crashes to be expected?

 

Yes, screenshots for comparison, I second that. There's such a nice picture of the Krokodile with a distant valley and mountain range in the background. If this just looks like empty space on Xbox, I would like to know beforehand. Just to be clear this isn't necessarily a dealbreaker for me either, but I think some clarity up front would be appreciated. After all, what else is a preview stream even for?

 

What was the process of research like for this route and how long did it take?

 

Why Mittenwaldbahn?

Any chance for Rh 1044 with Schlierenwagen as loco-DLC? (I know unlikely, but still ...)

 

Will the route have the improved snow effects?

 

Why did you choose only the 111 with the Scherenstromabnehmer from Salzburg-Rosenheim instead of both pantographs which means also the Einholmstromabnehmer from the Frankfurt-Fulda DLC or Pf. Ludwigsbahn and? The Einholmstromabnehmer existed on the 111 in 1989...

Why wasn't the 218 layered in? That one was a regular in Garmisch in the late 1980s.

When 139/140/140 and/or 1042/1044 with Schlierenwagen DLC? ;-)

 

1) Any considerations for locomotive DLCs for the route? Rh 1044, 2043, and 4030 would all be exceptional here.

2) Has Gen 8 console limited development in any way?

3) Have sounds been updated for the 111?

4) What variety of freight services is there? Only point to point, or will there be shunting available?

 

Will the new Rmms wagon layer on any future routes, even modern day ones?

If any future OBB locos that fit the time period are added to the game, will the timetable be updated with these locos?

 

2. That is always a no. If gen8 limited development, every platform would have a reduced and heavily reduced timetable. Graphic quality would also be very low. So if next gen and pc have a busier timetable and higher graphical fidelity, how would gen8 limit development

3. If you read the roadmap, it says they included new audio for the converter, brake valves and some controls.

 

This is a question about how the dispatcher handles a single track main line with passing tracks.

With the Clinchfield, trains were assigned a track based on direction. So, even if there was not a meet at the siding, northbound trains took the restricted speed passing track and the higher speed mainline rails were unused.

So, I have two questions. The first is a general one: Has dispatching evolved such that track is assigned based on availability or is track still assigned based on route?

And finally: Is this an issue with this route? If all the passing tracks are at passenger stations and the speed is the same, it would seem that the issue is moot.

Why have the recent streams including this one only been 480p resolution? It's like watching someone streaming southern belle on the Sinclair spectrum at times.

 

Can we actually use the Silberlingewith other trains like the 114 or 110?

 

Indeed. Remarked on that with the Ludwig route. Did not show in a favourable light, mabe even did an injustice to the item.

 

During the stream, have you all noticed the sound cutting out every 10 seconds or so when in the cab? If it's really the case, this is terrible and a deal breaker for me... it totally ruins immersion!

dtg_jan Could you add your comments please? Is it really so bad as your yesterday stream demonstrated??

 

That could be the core performance issue, particularly if the audio sounds like it’s squelching or someone smacking their lips. However even on WCMLOS it’s not quite as frequent as every 10 seconds. Certainly a red flag if this route and train are so heavy on resources it makes the existing issue worse.

 

Did you watch the yesterday Mittenwald stream? It can be easily heard during driving while being in the cab... if it's not every 10 seconds then 15-20 for sure...

There is stuttering at those moments too... so it looks like DTG is not giving enough priority to the sound process. This reminds me of similar issues with TS back in 2013 or 2014 after a yearly update. Took them months to fix. I totally stopped playing TS during that time. Frankly I haven't played TSW for a while and wanted to return to it with this route... so if this was a global TSW5 issue I wouldn't know...

No slur whatsoever on TSG who have done a superb job, but this has now gone from a confirmed Day One purchase to let’s see what happens. Cannot justify spending £33 for an add on when the host sim is not up to running it properly. Accept TSW has always had the odd stutter and glitch but current TSW5 seems worse than it has ever been. Sorry for pings, but DTG Matt and/or DTG Alex can we please break the wall of silence as to where we are on fixes for these problems which have become progressively worse in TSW5? £33 sat in my Steam Wallet ready and waiting, but not if the experience is even worse than the 87 distortion on Shap.

 

On stream it was speculated that a modern timetable "might be released at some stage in the future" but at this stage no further details were given.

 

watching back on the vod there was a running consistency of audio pause/drops, but I couldn't be sure that they were not encoding/processing lags on Matt's pc and/or the integration with his restream software given that he was streaming on Twitch and YouTube and also providing audio and visual to the other participants via Discord.

 

I did notice this in the stream as well, however, associated this more to the overal quality of the stream... I have never had this issue on any route, nor have I ever heard about it or seen it in another stream. Out of interest, is this a thing on other routes? Is this a known bug which has not been taken care of?

 

Well, I'll be more than happy if those were just streaming issues. That's why I asked the question here (dtg_jan) to find out...
