Hi, Just a small info question here regarding the 2 types of coaches we get with the 86. When running I see we get a mixed bag of blue and the intercity livery. Question: is that normal practice? I would love to see if using the intercity egine to have all the same coaches, and the same if I use the Blue version.
Intercity livery replaced blue and grey in the 1980s, so there was a transitional period where mixed rakes were common. Full coloured rakes happened too, particularly before and after the changeover period. I like the mixed rakes with the original addon, but do feel like solid ones should appear more often too.
Same here. Feel the chances of a mixed rake spawning should be much less. I would much rather run with a blue loco and blue/grey coaches. Maybe it's a fen shui thing...
Now this is just my opinion but when you get a mixed rack of coaches it looks off to me. Doesn't look right.
I like the idea of both... I like the randomised coaches. But I think the chances of getting matching rake of coaches should be a little higher. Would be nice to have the best of both worlds.
On the cross-country services, they used to put everything and anything together, especially if the service split/joined en-route. For example, if you had a northbound heading to Glasgow Central that split at Carstairs, the odds were you'd have a brake coach and a first class coach in both halves of the train. As pointed out already this was an era when coaches were being painted into a newer livery so when they took a coach out, they put whatever they had back in. Or if one was faulty and needed work. That's why you'd sometimes see a BSO reversed, or a Mk2D BFK in a rake. And the Mk2s would be a mix of aircon variants and the older non-aircon variety. The mess that is portrayed here is perfectly accurate for the era and I like it. The only one that isn't represented in this pack is you'd sometimes get a rake of Mk2fs with the odd Mk3 thrown in. I remember it happening when the Mk1 RMBs were coming out, they would stick a MK3 buffet in.
