I have some Mk1 coaches in Blue/Grey that I'm planning to upload to Creators Club shortly. I am currently unsure how to number these so I thought I would have a poll to see what type of upload the community would prefer. (I can then bear this in mind for all future liveries). Basically, I want to know how to number my coaches within my livery. There are 3 options and these are (1) un-numbered, (2) different number on each side (giving 2 models for the 'price' of one) or (3) same number on both sides (thus making each individual model unique). As you can't see both sides of a train at once having different numbers (opt 2) will give the illusion of having more separate coaches whereas (opt 3) requires more separate files to be created and added. Now that we have Formation Designer people might want to create longer rakes meaning that individual coach numbers might become more important. With Livery Manager now having 1000 layers it is easier to put more information on each coach thus making me consider these options. So please have a go at my first ever poll. I'm interested to hear what people think. Thanks.
Blooming heck. This is more complicated than I thought Option C means that each individual model (coach) has the same number of each side meaning that you would need multiple livery downloads of similar coaches if you were to create a believable rake. Whilst I am happy to make 2 or 3 versions of the same thing I doubt if people are willing to download them. (ie 10 downloads = a 10 coach rake). Option B means that you could recreate the same 10 coach rake with just 5 files. People might be willing to do that especially when you factor in BSOs / BSOTs / FKs and CKs etc Hope this helps.
That's interesting. I thought that might be the most tempting option. You get a 10 coach rake from 5 downloads (perhaps with a couple weathered) that would look believable (from side on). I asked, mainly, as I have seen the 'two numbers trick' done on HST power cars. Let's see how the vote pans out
I thought it might help if I threw in some screenshots. Here are the current versions of the Mk1s at Millers Dale. At present all coaches are separate files with individual numbers (meaning each pair would be 2 downloads). A pair of TSOs. A CK / FK combo. A pair of BSOs. Coach End. General View.
And here are a couple of BSOTs. As these are more specific, and have a bit more 'artistic licence', I suspect they will stay uniquely numbered. Anyway, Vern at least should like them
These are BSOTs. In real-life they WERE brakes??? (see below) The 'artistic' bit is moving them from Scotland. SC9001 - Cowlairs | Mk 1 Open Brake Second Micro Buffet
I don't disagree but I can't see how they could hook that up to Livery Editor (or Formation Manager come to that). But I'll ask.
Great pictures - whichever option is chosen, these coaches will be great. For me, the important thing is that the coach has a number on it, because if there isn't one it looks wrong. You notice it's missing, even when you can't read the number. Personally I don't care what the number is - I'm not going to go around checking the numbers on coaches, so it doesn't matter if every coach is the same. I'm certainly not going to do multiple downloads to get a different number on every coach! I went for option B, but either B or C would be fine.
I went for Option B but Option C can work if you want to put the extra effort in The liveries look great though
For those that like MK1s in Blue Grey livery I have just uploaded the first 5 files (BSOTs and BSOs only at this stage) to the Hub. Creators Club - MK1 BSOT M9000 (LPC) BlueGrey (DJ) Creators Club - MK1 BSOT M9016 (LPC) BlueGrey (DJ) Creators Club - MK1 BSO M9353 (LPC) BlueGrey (DJ) Creators Club - MK1 BSO M9388 (LPC) BlueGrey (DJ) Creators Club - MK1 BSO (LPC) BlueGrey NoNumber (DJ) The first 4 files are uniquely numbered as that was the option that most people picked in the poll I ran on the subject. (Obviously file 5 carries no number at all and, in theory, can be used anywhere geographically). My plan is to let these exist on the Hub for a day or so and then upload the next coaches (FKs and CKs). Enjoy
FKs and CKs now uploaded. There is one numbered and one unnumbered version of each coach. Creators Club - MK1 FK M13007 (LPC) BlueGrey (DJ) Creators Club - MK1 FK (LPC) BlueGrey NoNumber (DJ) Creators Club - MK1 CK M7925 (LPC) BlueGrey (DJ) Creators Club - MK1 CK (LPC) BlueGrey NoNumber (DJ) Enjoy
I did this too! just without the yellow and red stripe version and it’s using the PFR MK1’s. oh, and the ends are black instead of blue
That's good to hear. The more people that learn to use the various Editors the better in my opinion. I've had these coaches lurking about for a bit now.....funnily enough I created them to be used with a PFR Timetable mod that, hopefully, will be coming along soon.
TSOs are now uploaded. There are 3 different models two of which are numbered with the third un-numbered. Creators Club - MK1 TSO M4939 (LPC) BlueGrey (DJ) Creators Club - MK1 TSO M4777 (LPC) BlueGrey (DJ) Creators Club - MK1 TSO BlueGrey (LPC) NoNumber (DJ) Enjoy
Brilliant screenshots. It's great to, finally, see the coaches in use. I hadn't really thought about it before but the BSOTs sit perfectly in a Summer Saturday type service. You'd see lots of these on the Blackpool line. (The long distance shots shows this off perfectly). If anyone else has any screenshots of the Mk1s in use can you post them here. Thanks.
Very nice job you have done with these mate, I recreated (visually as not SKs or BSKs were available) a typical Skeggie Summer Saturday formation designer thing and gave it a run on BPO. I also used a pair of Dave's lovely Choppers at the front which suit your coaches nicely.
If you click on the class 20 label on the left side of the screen when it is in the formation, there is the dropdown on the left, and in the options part there were something to choose to have it face either forwards or backwards. If that admittedly poor description isn't good enough, once I've had tea I'll go and fire TSW up to give a better description. I did do this on the Xbox so should work on PS too.
From that description Matt it sounds like you selected 2 bonnet first CL20s before then flipping the front one using the 'Options' tab? (Like you I am away from my PC and am also doing this from memory). Out of interest would you want me to upload a matching BG or do you think that there are enough of these in-game anyway? I could also make a BFK if there was a demand. (It would only take a few minutes).
Yes, that is what I did, how you made any sense of what I said I'll never know! BG is up to you mate, like you say we do have a few in game, a BFK would be very nice to have though if it isn't too much trouble!
Hi Spikeyorks, I’ve downloaded your coaches and also one of your class 101 scenarios as they look great. Thing is how do I use the coaches within TSW4? Also with regards to the 101 scenario which I think is the red and blue livery 101 on tees valley where is it stored as I couldn’t find it within the game to play it after I downloaded it. Thanks
Hi Mike, You will find the scenario within Scenario Editor (which is where all Creative Centre scenarios end up). So from the main menu select Creative Centre / Scenario Editor / Tees Valley (or whatever route you want). Then scroll through the list of scenarios for that route until you get to the one you are looking for. (In the case of my scenarios they are all named the same as the downloaded name). Apologies if my instructions are vague as I am away from my PC and doing this from memory. With the Mk1 coaches then they can be used for a number of things. Firstly they will substitute in for the default versions. Secondly you can use them in Free Roam by applying the livery when you create the train. Finally you can use them when you create scenarios. I will be creating some scenarios shortly, and some different formations, so look out for these as they will give you better 'play' value. Good luck and thanks for subscribing
BG would be a good idea, and I say this because when you couple a dual braked BG to a vac braked coach, this happens.
Looking very nice. A shame DTG still won’t give us an actual buffet or restaurant car for the formations, or some default blue/grey reskins (along with more recent maquette for the seats).
Thanks for reply. I found the scenario but it just loaded up the standard 101 Blue grey livery. I did do a search for PinzaDave but nothing was showing up in creators club. No matter though. I tried to load up the coaches by spawning them in but they don’t seem to appear on my list to choose from. I assume these won’t work on Xbox? It’s probably me but only coaches seem to be listed are official.
Hi Mike, The Class 101 you are looking for is here. Creators Club - RTC 975089+975090 LAB COACH 5 (TVL) Re the Mk1 coaches then they are based on the Spirit of Steam Mk1s (Do you have that route?) which come up in-game as LPC (Liverpool - Crewe). Tomorrow I'll have a go at finding them myself in game and see if I can help you with some more links. David
smashing thanks very much for your help much appreciated. Yes I have all the UK DLC installed. I downloaded all your coaches, not sure if I’m supposed to but thought give it a try. I’m no train expert so the numbering or class of them doesn’t mean much to me which is why I’m probably struggling to see where they are.
Just uploaded a pair of BFOs. Two liveries. One with a running number and one without. Creators Club - MK1 BFO M17025 (LPC) BlueGrey (DJ) Creators Club - MK1 BFO BlueGrey (LPC) NoNumber (DJ)
Yes I've seen that happen too. Don't know if me creating a livery will help but I'll give it a go and see how we get on. (It's not too difficult to transfer a livery form one model to another.......although the BG is shorter).
A pair of BGs (Full Brakes). As usual, one with a running number and one without. Creators Club - MK1 BG M81033 (LPC) BlueGrey (DJ) Creators Club - MK1 BG BlueGrey (LPC) NoNumber (DJ) Now I need to give all these coaches something to do by adding them to some scenarios.
…it’s awreet, as I remember it anyway ! Loco could be Sturdee, Hardy, Achilles, Alberta etc. just need a green Peak ! & 45156 (thank you J.R. Carter)
