Hello all. I’ve got back into the routine of weathering things in TSW. Right now I am specifically focusing on freight wagons, as I find them much easier to mod, due to their relatively simple texture mapping layout. Just for fun, I’ve weathered the DB red HKA wagon, which comes with GWE. I’ve altered the red colour scheme so it doesn’t look so new, as well as adding weathering and graffiti decals to it. Due to the limitations of this specific wagon, the weathering will apply to ALL wagons. At this moment in time, I have no plans to release it, unless I get enough requests from you guys. With the GWE preservation update in the pipeline, I plan to do the same to the FKA container wagon. The good thing about this wagon is that it has multiple liveries, so it’ll give me a lot more flexibility in terms of variety of weathering etc. In simple terms, it’ll mean all the wagons won’t look the ‘same’ in terms of weathering. Here’s what I’ve done with the HKA wagon. Let me know what you think of it
Nice done the weathering. If you are messing around with the liveries, there is another HKA livery, basicly same type with the axiom rail tf25 bogies. Just not DB Schenker red. I think there was even a batch which got converted from JMA Hoppers.
Looks great but not sure I could run 20 of them as it's too bold. It's a deep shame we cannot make each wagon slightly unique
Unfortunately that's the current limitation with this wagon. I'm looking forward to weathering the FKA wagon, albeit without the graffiti I think.
I was thinking of that, but its a real shame we only have one type of variant for this wagon, as one repaint would replace them all.
would be much easier when we could just paint the wagons with a simple program like paint or even much better in game while standing outside

Although I know that graffiti painting is realistic, I prefer not to look at it and so appreciate the unblemished rail vehicles present in DTG's railroad simulators. So, while your HKA modification appears realistic, I won't be applying it.
Looks good. Hopefully you continue with the windscreen weathering too. There are a number of trains that could do with it. Ie 377, 387, 33 etc. Full on grime around the wipers span would add much to the driver experience.
There’s only so much you can clean without a proper deep clean, which is done at the depot. This is how trains often look when in service, with grime around the windscreen, which the wipers aren’t able to get to.
Decided to update the title of this thread, so it now includes all my weathering mods in one. An update on my Southern 313 weathering mod: - Weathering visuals added to the front of the 313 - New tail light lens cover colour (darker red with fade out around the edges) - Higher intensity and slightly altered LED marker light - Gangway weathering textures completely replaced from the pixelated mess it was before
It is nicely done, but it does not look good to see a whole train with the same graffiti on each wagon. I appreciate weathering mods, but they should be very subtle and you should bare notice it because it feels much like how it should be.
That was just used as a test bed, hence why I didn’t release it. The weathering mods for the FKA container wagons will be a lot more subtle.
