PC (mod) Tsw 4 - New Signal Visuals For All Routes

    Hey guys. I've been working on something quietly in the background, which I'm now ready to release.

    This mod dramatically improves the look and behaviour of the signals and its flares in TSW, but especially so for new TSW 4 British routes.

    Nonetheless, this will benefit ALL TSW routes. The details of what routes are benefited from it and how it affects then is listed below:

    TSW 4 British routes ONLY:
    • Brand new high-resolution signal textures
    • Brand new signal emissive visuals (brighter looking light source coming from the signals)
    • Brand new signal emissive colours (more colour accurate reds, yellows and greens)
    • Brand new lens flare visuals (much more realistic looking, with the old low-resolution variant replaced)
    • Brand new lens flare brightness (much brighter from a distance, especially so at night)
    • Significantly increased lens flare render distance, especially so at night (lens flares can now be seen from MUCH further away)
    • New lens flare behaviour (the flare size responds to the distance away from it in a much more realistic way. It no longer 'grows' unrealistically)
    ALL other TSW routes, even older ones:
    • Brand new lens flare visuals (much more realistic looking, with the old low-resolution variant replaced)
    • Brand new lens flare brightness (much brighter from a distance, especially so at night)

    No. It says quite clearly it’s for TSW4 only!

    No, it’s only for TSW 4, however it works on older routes too inside of TSW 4.

    Any indication from DTG that they might use it as standard so console players can benefit? You do some great work and I’d love to see it on PS5.

    I would like to see DTG implementig good mods in the core game too. Not just for console players.

    Since Mods / Game & Sound enhancement is a fundamental part for me for immersion / annoyance reasons, i went for a PC for the choice of my platform.

    Fired up TSW 4 on my 14 years old "highend" machine. Runs like a clockwork.

    --》 i dont need to wait for DTG and hope something might happen. One big annoyance point less.

    (Fired up tsw4 first to just notice all brake shut down levers of the german freight wagon were looking the wrong direction...at least on the habbins and sggmrrs)
    On the new eanos wagons they are correct.

    Straight down for active, horizontal for disabled)

    Not sure if they have an "employee train knowledge problem", but this can be researched in less than 1min, made even a oic on saturday)

    I think you’ve misread. The title states it’s for TSW 4, with routes running inside the game.

    This WON’T work for TSW 3 and older versions of the game.

    If you’re on console and would like to see this improvement in the base game, make it known to DTG. Please comment asking for it and rate the heck out of the post to show your support. Maybe we’ll get it if demand is high enough. Fingers crossed.

    londonmidland's mod for signals is great and we've spent several days trying to figure out how to bring it in to the core and thus far failed.

    The challenge is that he's modifying final built content (this is like modifying the exe with a hex editor) whereas we can't do that and get it into builds, we need to find the equivalent modification to the actual source of the assets but thus far, there doesn't seem to be a 1:1 correlation.

    We haven't given up though :)

    Big thank you to londonmidland and other modders for continuing to push the sim forward :)

    were there talks about implementing soundmods/enhancement pack (if allowed by modder) into the game? such as the ICE 1 EP or the small ICE 3 EP (which is making the KWG ICE 3 the first one in TSW to have the redesigned look, it also sharpens up the railbow variant by the use of a seperate livery plus the EP for the yellow PIS and wider door lines blablabla you know the usual stuff)

    Dtg have said this before but the issue with sound mods might be copyright or how they were sourced. You never know where the sound is coming from unless it is original high quality recordings and they own it.

    well they could atleast try ask the modders and they ask the people who own the source audio if the usage of it in the actual game is okay and if everyone is ok with that then it could work out but if noone takes the first step nothing will happen...

    Those screenshots are phenomenally good, I'll be sure to try out the mod as soon as possible!

    Just out of curiosity, is there a particular ini mod that you use? The colors look superb to my eyes!

    Just ran a bit of ECML and the signals are much more visible as you approach them. Thank you LM for this mod.

    Glad you like it. I personally like driving at night with the signals glowing from afar, slowly getting closer as you approach them.

    Has anyone tried this on older routes, as well as non-British routes, to see if it performs yet? I’m intrigued to see what it’s like for you guys.

    Will your existing mods like the EP etc need new versions for TSW4? I haven't moved them over from my TSW3 folder yet because people have said route stuff will crash.

    The older mods will need to be updated to work with TSW 4, which isn’t technically possible at the moment unfortunately.

    Had a few ECML runs with the mod, makes such a big difference! Especially if you go with mini HUD or no HUD.

    Hope DTG manage to incorporate this to the core game so everyone can benefit :)

    It looks great during both day and night, if I do say so myself ;)

    No promises anything will come to fruition but I’m currently liaising with the developers, to try and help them to get it into the core game officially.

    This is probably a naive question but what is to stop distribution of the .pak as is as an addon, like the pre order decals, without a change to the core code?

    I remember matt from dtg saying that the way londonmidland mods the game can't be used by dtg. Dtg have to find another way so it's not a simple do what lm did and it just works.

    I use a third party program to edit the values. DTG could distribute it via a .pak but this would only work for PC. So they have to do it the ‘proper’ way via their in house editor, which differs from the way I do things.

    I must admit - this is the first mod I've tried to install - will feedback on it in a bit - but with it helping all routes at once and making signals more visible - I'm hopeful for a good experience.

    May I ask which program you are using? I am not satisfied with some of the cab camera presets, and am desperately trying to edit the BRO 110 RVV uasset file which holds these values. I can load the QuickBMS'd file into KayHelios' AssetEditor but it won't let me save anything (index error), and UAssetGUI completely refuses to load it. Need help here, got a load of camera fix mods awaiting release :)
