The Hi-Line is a railroad in Montana running between Havre and Whitefish. It serves as a portion of the BNSF Railway Northern Transcon.[1] Originally the mainline of the Great Northern Railway,[2] the Hi-Line name has its origins in the railroad line being the northernmost (American) railway line in the region. The term also more generally refers to the area of northern Montana near the Canada–United States border and U.S. Highway 2.[2][3] The route is served by one passenger train daily in each direction operating between Chicago and either Portland, Oregon or Seattle: Amtrak Empire Builder ET44AC - BNSF: SD70ACE - BNSF: GP38-2 - BNSF: SD70M BNSF: ES44AC - BNSF:
Add the Empire Builder consist and a Siemens ALC-42 Charger. I'd also rather have a BNSF GP60 than a GP38-2.
