Just by checking the Announcements thread, I found this.

    https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/train-simulator-classic-update-notes-–-28-06-2022.56124/

Checking my folders - I have not received that big HiLine update. My asset file date was older... what's going on?

I have figured out why this happened, has to do with the Rebranding process and now owning two apps of the same name (The unbranded one and the branded one whose key was automatically added by Steam to my account).

Apparantly this is blocking the update - because it only applies to one of the two apps (the current one) and shares the same file names. So Steam can't apply it without breaking one of the DLC in its logic.

I had both ticked in my DLC list, so 1147154 blocked the update of 1055338 (current one sold - one for all).

It's not obvious which is which in the DLC list, but one has to be deactivated! It's the smaller of both (scroll right to see the size, untick the 1.89GB one. I have checked for this by looking at the appmanifest_24010.acf which now lists 1147154 as "DisabledDLC" - correctly.

I just unticked both and then reticked the 1.98GB (!) one which gave me the updated Route and Assets files.

    To check for yourself:

The updated Assets\VNHRR\HiLine\HiLineAssets.ap should be 1.49 GB (1,604,700,367 Bytes)

So this was no problem until an update was released - the same will happen if Arizona Divide should get an update. DLC to remove is 1560930 here.

    Cheers!

Hmmm, well, I have just installed both of these Asset files again after reading your post into my VNHRR folder and neither of them are the same size as yours, mine are much less, unsure if any branding logos would decrease the volumes to that extent, so, unsure what's happening, is it because I'm British and have a different file size?

    File #1 is 1.49 GB = 1,567,091
    File #2 is 1.41 GB = 1,482,967

The System.ap folder is the same size in both folders is 17.4 mb = 17848 kb

    Cheerz. Steve.

    Hi Steve,

your File #1 (which should be HiLineAssets.ap) is correct. You have given the size in kilobytes. File #2 is the assets before update.
The fact that the multiplier from bytes to Kilobytes, Megabytes and Gigabytes is 1024 (2^10, binary system) and not 1000 (10^3, decimal system) can be confusing.

    1,604,700,367 B / 1024 = 1,567,091 KB - your assets are updated!

The System.ap is the branded textures, this is not touched by the update.

RailWorks\Content\Routes\e4b664ba-f317-42b2-bec3-c3572d8d3440\MainContent.ap is 493 MB (517,851,527 Bytes) after the update.

To check again, the main DLC with 1.89GB must be inactive and the 1.98GB (updated) active.

Bottom of steamapps\appmanifest_24010.acf will give you the DLC ID's you deactivated. Yellow is the old HiLine, number following is the mentioned ArizonaDivide inactive package.

Note: Do not edit this file manually.

    Hello Torf,

Fine, that's got that sorted out now then. Yes, I forgot about the kilobyte megabyte scenario, thanks for reminding me. However, the Asset folders I assume are ROW = Rest of the World and US, does it matter which we install if they are both the same volume?

    Cheerz. Steve.

Ticking ROW will give you the System.ap containing unbranded textures, US will give you System.ap with BNSF logos, this has not changed. For legal reasons they cannot remove this from the library. It's just for new customers that these are not part of the DLC anymore - hence the double HiLine DLCs. The abandoned one which we have now deactivated offers both US and ROW assets, but will not experience updates. Those are tied to the second package which is branded for all customers. You still have both versions available simply because you've purchased the route during the ban. And for legal reasons a DLC you bought cannot be removed and will always be available for you to redownload.

So even if you've purchased abandoned content like Phorum Peninsula or Portland Terminal, it will stay in Steam's depot for you.

    Greetings,
    torf
