Add more Services to the Long island railroad route and add a full Rush Hour timetable to the route to make it more busier
As far as we know, they planned to do so, but the signalling on the route is buggy and can't handle more trains. So they will need to sorth out teh signalling + ATC first, then we can get a busy route. It would be really needed, as it would completely transform the route. It may give it a second chance to shine. I mean the distant scenery is a bit lacking on LIRR, but with a proper timetable to make it busy (and maybe the diesels as a separate addon) it would be an amazing route.
Agree it needs more LIRR is so underrated, I wonder how far they have got in the mind of getting the signalling problems fixed so more can be done
LIRR if properly fixed would be an amazing route. It has so many little branches that you can have services basically running from everywhere to everywhere. But it is held back by so many problems. And imagine NEC AI traffic enhancing the route.
There is no need to remake the whole map. They "just" need to fix the signalling and the ATC. To be honest the ATC might not even need fixing, it may work correctly if we had proper signalling. So in that case, it's only the signalling that needs fixing. Of course fixing the signalling would not be an easy task, but if they did it, it would be well worth it, as I believe they already have a busy timetable ready for the route made years ago, but they can't use it due to signalling problems. But that was already made years ago, so if they made a brand new one today, using techniques they learnt in the past few years, I bet they could make something really amazing. I mean imagine. Actual busy traffic, static Amtrak stock at Sunnyside Yard and LIRR units at Jamaica and Hillside Facility, and maybe even a few freight cars at sidings. The route would completely transform. Then to make things perfect, release the diesels, since Long Island City terminal is already modelled for them. Of course, it's just wishful thinking at this point, but one can dream, right? But I believe this would be a good timeline to make some money out of it as well. After all, you wouldn't want to spend resources fixing it for nothing. But a new DLC for LIRR wouldn't sell well in the route current state. But fix LIRR, then you can sell a diesels pack and everyone is happy.
To fix this use the positive train control system seen on the Harlem Line modified for LIRR then introduce Babylon Branch services on the existing route these run Penn Station to Jamaica via Woodside. Later on the route merge the route with Babylon Branch using the Hillside Support Facility flyover and current schedules for Hempstead Branch To Hempstead. Main line are Ronkonkoma and Port Jefferson services to Huntington playable to Hicksville. If the community board watching the video on how they make time tables it's actually mentioned that the development team has to download PDF timetables for US routes.
They won’t fix it - I doubt they have any intention of doing so either. If they do, I’ll be very surprised. It’s been broken for a long time. LIRR isn’t getting the love it desperately needs (and deserves).
Honestly I doubt it they ever will as well, but I will still use every chance to voice my opinion about it. LIRR could be a great US commuter route, but in it's current form I think it's safe to say it is one of the worst routes for TSW. Due to this, many people avoid it. But the potential and interest is obviously there, as there are regular posts complaining or asking about the route and possible extension. So I think if they were to ever fix it, then maybe even make and sell a diesels add-on, it would be a great package that would interest many people. I mean exsisting owners would probably buy the diesels, while those currently turnt away from the route could suddenly be interested. After all, it would be a great route with 2 EMUs and a loco+coach pack. If a new player is interested, then you already sold them 3 DLCs this way (route + M3 + diesels).
Dude, try to put what you want to say in one reply please, don't spam the thread with 5 posts right after each other. But yeah, that would be pretty fun. I'm making a New York & Atlantic Railroad livery right now and a freight scenario on LIRR to go with it. Or well, I would make one, if the game let me... But signalling is really bugged and everything keeps getting stuck, as described in another post of mine. Such a headache. Is a working LIRR too much to ask? :'(
they also need to add more improve better assets to give more city vibes and fix the station and the nighttime view, and more ai train running back and forth at least and especially more realistic track sound such as the clickety clack when train switch junction, track, and curving and screeching.
They need to bring the LIRR M7 and M3 up tp the same standards of the Metro North ones. New sounds and PIF. I will die on that hill.
That would truly be great, as personally I like the feel of LIRR better than the Harlem Line, but sadly quality wise the route is horrible.
I hope dovetail adds the m9 locomotive or the dual mode diesel locomotive for the Lirr route along with the port Jefferson or oyster bay Branch.
