Appreciate OP is talking about Germany, but if we take the UK ECML, IRL today there have been several major disruptions: Points failure between Alnmouth and Morpeth Fault with the signalling system between Morpeth and Newcastle Points failure between Newcastle and Durham Safety inspection of the track between Durham and Darlington Fault with the signalling system between Darlington and York Not sure what happened today to cause so many issues, but my point is simply adding service disruption would add to immersion given the current state of the railway. The big cheese of the ECML is usually the wires down somewhere. However from my own Control experience that is just a typical day on most main lines. Things tend to break no matter how well maintained and I lost count of the number of times the best laid plan to manage the service with one incident, didn’t survive the next problem to surface.
