What could possibly be one of the best things that came to TSW4 is the new Free Roam feature, the ability to just spawn whatever train you like, into whatever route and take whatever path you want to take from there. I've already had a play around with it and I can already say that it's a lot of fun, and that's not even before all the TSW compatible content comes to the game tomorrow.

However, it does come with one major flaw, and it's nothing to do with the feature itself, but rather, it highlights the need more spawn-in walking points, something that can be particularly said about the core TSW4 routes (excluding Dresden-Riesa). Simply put, these routes seem to not have enough spawn-in walking points. For the most part, they are all around the stations along those routes and that's it, with some major locations not having a spawn-in walking location, even though they could greatly benefit from having one. Some of the keys one that I could think of at the top of my head include.
    • The Entirety of the Metrolink CMF on Antelope Valley
    • The Doncaster IEP Depot on East Coast Main Line (As well as the general yard area around Doncaster)
    • The general yard area located to the North of Peterborough, also on East Coast Main Line
…and it's not just the core TSW4 routes that have this problem. The extended Southeastern High Speed I feel like could also benefit from having more spawn-in walking points, especially for some of the various locations along HS1 like the Dagenham Docks area and the various passing loops, and I'm sure there are plenty more examples that more people are bound to bring up

This may seem like a relatively minor thing, but stuff like this could not only make accessing these areas a whole lot easier, but also really enhance a feature like free-roam even more, but allowing you to place trains and set routes to places that are not normally accessed by a regular service that runs on a particular route, and that's without having to wonder all the way over there in the first place.

Yep, this would elevate free roam even more.
Being able to spawn directly into a yard, spawn a train and get to work would be perfect.

Thanks for posting this, I was just thinking about it yesterday.
I don't understand why they limit so much the movement in the areas where you can walk freely, taking into account that many of them are perfectly modeled but they forbid us to go there, without knowing the reason.

The free roam mode is amazing, it offers us infinite possibilities to play as we want but I think that freedom is very limited by those invisible walls. Hopefully in future routes take this into account, what good is the effort invested by modeling some areas if then do not allow us to pass?
