Trains with the same coupler and at the same height can couple IRL, though some don't in TSW. I tried to couple a 158 and 166 earlier, but they didn't couple. As seen here they have the same coupler and at the same height. They, however, should have coupled and they would have IRL. DTG should have made them able to couple. I also tried it with both a 158 and 150 and last year (this may have been patched) a 150 and 166. Neither worked.
TBH, I fully agree with you. Funny enough, the new HST can couple with another EMT HST which is quite unrealistic as they are never seen in such a formation in service to my knowledge
This also brings about the possibility of double/triple headed locomotives. We can see this in action with the MML Peak Railtour.
Excellent suggestion but some of the trains despite using the same coupler cannot operate together because of different electrical systems. Example is 166 158 but a Class 150/2 & 158 works due to them being Sprinters
I Guess they don't couple due to a real life formation never having a class 166/165 on the back of a 158. Would like to see a consist creator in the game know.
It's not possible because maybe the scharf (dellner) is not the same maybe only in emergency only idk for this
