I've recently made the switch from PS4 Pro to PS5, which meant upgrading Train Sim World 4 between the two consoles. I have to say the upgrade is totally worth it with respect to TSW, the sheer number of layers is worth it alone (especially on London Commuter and East Coast Mainline). The load times are drastically reduced, the picture quality is hugely improved (you can actually read the route maps and even read the coffee shop menus on the new ECML route in perfect clarity, instead of it being pixellated on PS4 Pro) With the new ECML route not having class 158 and 700 layers on gen 8, the route feels completely different and much, much more alive on gen 9 i've been on gen 8 for so long, and i'm so happy to have received support for TSW up to and including the latest release, but gen 9 really does show the game off in a completely new light, and it's a huge step up. i love that gen 8 and gen 9 receive support for the game (albeit with differing layers), and i hope those on gen 8 still receive support for a long time to come, but i would highly recommend to anyone considering the upgrade to ps5 to do so, the game really comes into its own on gen 9 I wasn't really expecting such an improved experience between ps4 pro and ps5, but it's definitely worth it for anyone who is contemplating doing so in my view!
Thank you! I've been unsure to go and buy ps5 and tsw4 so I can get off ps4 and tsw3, reading you confirmation regarding the layers has made my mind up to actually do so end of the month. Or when the JT route comes out.
I also went a couple months ago from PS4 Pro to PS5. And the difference is very pleasant. More trains, smoother gameplay, better graphics. I noticed that I am enjoying TSW way more. Still a bummer that I need to get all my progress and 600 levels back. But still worth it!
I upgraded from the normal PS4 to the 5 at the beginning of August. My experience was similar, I made an almost identical post on here back then
Your absolutely spot on Katia are you excited for JT pacer route thanks again for your help over past days
Agree with al that's been said here. And another BIG plus I found when I made the switch is the updates ! On PS4 an update always meant re-downloading the whole route, so it was always a few Gb. On PS5 an update is only 20 or 30 Mb. Soooo much quicker to download updates on the PS5
i'm definitely looking forward to the new Blackpool route.. i actually don't usually go for the older era routes (nothing against them of course, just my own personal preference!), but the inclusion of the class 142 is what sold this for me initially.. and now having seen all the scenery updates from JT have definitely made my mind up to purchase this route! and following up on all the other comments, i agree with everyone.. i was genuinely surprised just how much better the game is on gen 9, it's such a noticable step up!
