Ooooo (Fyi I'm guessing this is an Xbox glitch and not a leak so that's why I'm sharing it cause I think you can get banned for sharing leaks now. )
You're not sharing anything you're contracted not to share and as long as you've not hacked anything to this information, then I think you'll be fine. If this is a thing, then it looks like the new release will be "TSW4" so maybe the big reveal is a "Rush hour"-style package.
You can get banned for sharing or re-posting leaks that came from a private source so I don't think that counts. Though the rules are vague at best. Just curious, does anything happen if you do try to join in? Like a glitchy thing?
An odd one. Though part of me really hopes DTG haven’t been mindwashed by SimRail into thinking they could do a similar exercise with TSW. It also seems highly unlikely MP would come to TSW4, rather than a new iteration of the game. Oh well, see you all at MKC then (oops).
Not a bad move if it turns out that way. Or to put it another way it would stop me vocalising my displeasure at the paywall model and might even encourage me to buy TSW4.. Who'd have thought it could be that easy...
Not a leak from another source. Came through and my brother showed me that on his Xbox. (Series x) Just a glitch I think.
Yeah. It's a bit of a grey area. That's why I put that below just incase. It had an option to ask to join but that was it I think.
I wouldn't mind multiplayer all that much so long as it uses a system where you can still play solo as normal or have closed lobby's and not forced multiplayer.
I think there is something going wrong with the XBOX software there. It seems more youre mate is playing a different game but the picture thats showing "Train Simulator 4". So Xbox shows the wrong game thumbnail text. There is nothing that shows something about an upcoming TSW or what so ever.
Even if multiple player become available in the upcoming release, I doubt I'd ever play it personally. AI replicates other services well enough, so I don't need any other players to do it, to make the experience feel more immersive...
I have seen this from time to time on XBox, where it temporarily flags a game a friend is playing as "joinable" which is not. It still has the "join" button greyed out if you check your friend in the list though.
Absolutely not you overlook one important fact if it were just rush hour style package as you assume explain why tsw4 leaving Xbox game pass
Could easily something as simple as its not doing well. Just because it's being removed from game pass, it doesn't mean a new game is coming (whether a new game comes or not is a different matter altogether).
Please let me laugh, is DTG's replacement a multiplayer game? Their model is to continuously release new DLCs.
The game itself won’t be all multiplayer, there will probably still be an option to play single player
It's one of the XBox features that have been added to make things a more community orientated experience. If someone is playing a game you own / have played then it auto flags that you can join them. If it's not a multiplayer game (TSW4 isn't) or you don't have it installed then once your friend has accepted your request you're thrown into party chat to, erm, chat about the game i suppose! Oh, just to add: It might just be stuff that's available on gamepass but it's really hard to say because most of my friends seem to play nothing but Forza games - all of which are flagged as joinable.
Honestly, I would I like it unless people intentionally do stupid s*** like it's GTA Online. (seriously, it is bad.)
But really what does MP train simming bring to the table? A quick wave or o7 as you pass other players with their name above the loco? Without MP signaller or despatcher there is no meaningful player input or control other than doing something stupid as a driver which is not the point. This already a factor in SimRail where idle chit chat has been banned, if you stop your train or run too slowly a bot takes over, or you end up on a freight service going from loop to loop and covering about 20km in an hour. Run 8 not much better with the more open world. When I tried MP it was just a good old boys’ club of people jawing to each other and I was pretty much ignored when I tried to join in. Ran a train a short distance, stabled it out the way at Bakersfield with a note I was coming back later. When I did, someone already moved or deleted it. So back to SP where my railroad, my rules and far more fun.
The only multiplayer that would make sense to me would be guard mode, so one player drives the train while the other checks tickets and controls the doors.
You can create a "Looking for Group" session for any game, including single-player only ones. Others can join you even in single-player only games, where the game would load normally, but those who join will be in a chat party.
I sincerely hope it’s a rush hour type thing because I don’t honestly see how DTG can bring out TSW5 as there won’t be any new features of consequence as a major selling point. I did err on the side of this next release not being a new game a while back. Besides we’re still waiting for TSW4 features like suspension to be implemented a year later. IMO if DTG released a new game before this was done they’d be a laughing stock.
Question answered, thanks for debunking this. No leak or glitch. Though I have a feeling the answer will be overlooked and speculation will continue anyway just for the sake of it
I honestly hope multiplayer isn't coming. Any time investment in something like that would be better spent working on getting a fully working steam locomotive simulation into the game.
Exactly my thought ! Would they really dare to open yet another big project while all the other big projects are unfinished or just left untouched for months ? Not that im absolutely against MP in itself (all a question of implementation at the end) but i would end up in utter disbelief if this turns out to be true. Maybe Rush Hour passengers on BML or fixing broken Level crossings on LFR should be on top of their list ? lets see
I can't imagine TSW being a MP game... it just dorsn't make sense - you pass another train where your friend sits in it behind a blurry glass wall! Yay! (And the player model, you can choose as your avatar, doesn't look like a friend I would say)
