Take a trip to the Northern Alps through Southern Bavaria, on the Garmisch-Partenkirchen line!

    Route
    Feldafing,_Bahnhof.02.jpg

Feldafing Bahnhof with an S-Bahn Munich 423 at the station.

The Garmisch-Partenkirchen Line runs for 100.6 kilometres, or 62.5 miles, from the Bavarian capital, down south to the ski resort, just next to the Austrian border.

A single track line in parts, it would offer an experience we haven't truly had yet - a relatively quick but still rural branch line, with the Munich S-Bahn suplimentibg it, all while running fron Bavarian flat farmland into the Alps at the south of the state.

    The route is as follows:
    Munich Hbf (S-Bahn)
Absent on the previous Munich route is Munich Hbf's S-Bahn platforms. Tunneling underneath the station, the S-Bahn station has three platforms - the outside two for alighting and the inner platform for boarding, what is known as the 'Spanish Solution'. In HMA, S-Bahn representation ends at Hackerbrücke.
    Munich Hauptbahnhof (Mainline)
Munich Hbf is the largest station on the route, by a long way, and the primary station in Munich. It is served by U-Bahn, Local, Regional and International services, working as a hub for the city and region.

    Munich-Hackerbrücke
    Munich-Donnerbergerbrucke
    Laim
    Munich-Pasing (7.4)
Munich-Pasing, a major interchange for S-Bahn, Regio, InterCity trains, and marks the end of the HMA section, and the start of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen line.

    Munich-Westkreuz (8.9)
    Lochham (11.3)
    Gräfelfing (12.4)
    Planegg (14.1)
    Stockdorf (15.8)
    Gauting (18.6)
    Starnberg Nord (26.7)
    Starnberg (27.9)
Starnberg is the only RB/RE & S-Bahn interchange between Tutzing and Pasing.

    Possenhofen (32.7)
    Feldafing (34.8)
    Tutzing (39.6)
Tutzing is the terminus of the S-Bahn Line 3, and the first interchange station, as the line to Kochel am See diverges here. Additionally, after Tutzing, the line becomes single-track.

    Weilheim (53.5)
Located 14km from Tutzing, Weilheim marks the end of the single-track section of the route, at roughly the halfway mark, with double-track running continuing to Murnau.

    Huglfing (62)
    Uffing am Staffelsee (69.3)
    Murnau (74.9)
Murnau marks the southern end of double-track running, with a single-track comprising the rest of the line.

    Ohlstadt (81.1)
    Eschenlohe (85.4)
    Oberau (91.9)
    Farchant (95.8)
    Garmisch-Partenkirchen (100.6)
Garmisch-Partenkirchen is the Alpine terminus for this route; interchanging with routes to Austria and the ÖBB Tyrol S-Bahn.

    Rolling Stock
    There isn't anything new in this route, as RB Services are operated by Talent 2s and the S-Bahn is run by the BR 423, as already seen on Köln-Aachen/Dresden-Riesa, and München-Augsburg, respectively. Anyway;

    DB BR 442 'Talent 2'
    DB BR 423

    Regional - DB BR 442 'Talent 2'

    qiqrs2jn0zm51.jpg

Returning from SKA/DRA is the DB Regio Talent 2. Operating RB/RE services along the route almost exclusively, the Talent 2 is the workhorse of the route.

    DB BR 423
    Ss_3e835f0d33b1f8697748bc48bc4742a75c9388df.jpg

Featured in the Munich-Augsburg route and returning here is the Munich S-Bahn Class 423. Responsible for virtually all of the Munich S-Bahn's operations, the 423 will run along the Munich-Tutzing section, as well as on other lines through the Hauptbahnhof-Pasing section.

    Layers on the Route:
ICE 3 - The ICE 3 from SKA/Munich-Augsburg could operate the limited service from Berlin to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, as well as the countless services from Munich across Germany.

ÖBB 4024 - The Talent 1 from the various Austrian Routes would be able to appear on the Tyrol S-Bahn services at and near Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

    Layers For AI at/around Munich:
ICE 1 (KWG), ICE 3 (KWG), ÖBB 1116 (SRH), DB 425 (replacing 426), DB 218, DB 628 (MTL) + others.

Additionally, the TSG 420 DLC could supplement the 423 on S-Bahn services, as it would on HMA.

    München_Hauptbahnhof_(tief).JPG
München-Hauptbahnhof (Tief), the S-Bahn platforms at the central station. The middle platform is for boarding, the outside platforms are for exiting, allowing for optimised passenger flow.

Yes it's a nice line even better if the onward section to Innsbruck was included. Got both in TSC and the merge, though stopping the 442 on the 1 in 32 at a small station, saving then resuming later, resulted in game over due to train rolling with the doors open (even with the brakes applied!).

Good suggestion, I suggested this route a year or so ago and I had some good feedback on it, I'll put a link below in case anyone wants to give it a read :).

    Link - - > Train Sim World 3 - Munchen to Garmisch-Partenkirchen Railway

But generally, this route would be a good one to have now with some more German stock included in TSW4 i.e. DB BR 111 or OBB 1116 so the layer opportunities are immense if they did this route to Innsbruck and it would form another cross-border route between DE and AT like Salzburg-Rosenheim and S-Bahn Vorarlberg before it.

Bring it on to the game speaking of the existing 4024 that can run all the way to München Hbf RB6 when needed.
