Post your requests for DTG for upgrades you wanna see on Dresden-Riesa route. My first request is pretty niche, but I'd love to see some swing nose turnouts on the higher speed sections of the route. Here is a snip of them being used on the route between Gerhart-Hauptmann-Straße 15 and Radebeul-Kötzschenbroda. I've counted nine on the route in total. Secondly I would love to see a full overhaul of the OHLE which hopefully they will do given they are upgrading the OHLE rendering and there have been OHLE improvements since the route was released.
I would love to see more freight trains being overtaken and more variety in freight locos since 99% of them get either a MRCE Br185.5 or a Br143 as a loco- and they always have the standard livery :/
Yeah this definitely would make the route more interesting. Honestly I like the route overall so I think if they do this right they could very well make the best route in the game. It would be great if they extended the line too to the airport like they were originally going to do. Especially given one of the regional packs only includes that route for the same price as you can get the others, it think it would be fair for them to add this extension. However realistically I don't see this happening.
These are some great ideas and if we get the chance to revisit the route in the future we could certainly consider them. However, to temper expectations we will only be upgrading the route in the sense of adding support for TSW 4 features including volumetric fog, improved lighting, volumetric clouds, improved OHLE, Free Roam support and Formation Designer support when it is available. This will of course come with a new pass of bug fixes and support for the Vectron.
A swing nose turnout uses a moving nose rather than a solid piece of metal. This allows for a continuous section of track through the turnout rather than a gap which causes the typical "clunk" as a train goes through a turnout. This reduces stress to the wheel which will reduce maintenance requirements. It also increases comfort to passengers. The tradeoff is another switch motor required which increases the infrastructure maintenance, and capital costs required. I am not an expert on the standards of all countries but I would assume that any switches with a through speed of above 160 would require these switches. In Germany there is a famous switch with a diverging track speed of 200km/h located just to the south of Bitterfeld. I do know for a fact that Queensland Rail in Australia (which uses narrow gauge) requires swing nose turnouts for through speeds above 80km/h. Here is an example of a swing nose turnout in Germany. Note the frog creates a continuous length of track through the turnout, which would move to the right to form a continuous length of track for the diverging route. Here is an example of a conventional turnout which is almost ubiquitous on railways. Hope this answers your question
Now that they’re in the game, I think it’s time to add the neutral section between kilometres 71.4 and 71.6 south of Riesa.
We even should have one of those in game. The switch at Rohrbach (KWG) onto the nantenbacher curve allowes 200kph on the diverging track. Not sure if this is modelled correct in game, though. Hardly noticeable from the cab and those speeds anyway. BTW, if you are interested what that looks like for the driver, this is a nicely done video (in German though):
Hi, Is it normal on Nahverker Dresden that the PZB Frei key is pretty useless at some places ? For example when departing from Coswig, going to Cottbus or Meissen Triebischtal you are under the influence of a 500 Hz magnet, then you go though the green Hl1 signal meaning to resume driving at full speed as soon as you pass the signal. But when going through the signal you get a 1000 Hz restrictive mode 45 km/h influence that you can't free yourself from, even when the 1000 Hz icon turns off. By pressing PZB Frei you still have a restrictive 45 km/h. You have to wait for the speed restriction to diseappear by itself. There are some other places where that happens. Is that a bug or did I miss something ?
I do not drive with the speedometer HUD but I think it doesn't flash in the HUD, it's only in the cab.
The Dresden-Klotzsche air port branch of the S2 would be a great. Just driving the Dostos from the Hbf up to there would be amazing. I also dreamed even about a proceeding of the RE15 and RE18 lines from Großenhain up to Hoyerswerda or even Cottbus, although that probably will be too long for DTG to create and we probably won't even see the airport branch ever. But if they ever consider to create add ons for add ons, I would purchase it to have a full regional route.
I would also be willing to pay for the Branch to the Airport. An Idea In six to nine Months, when Maintalbahn has been available for a while. The DB BR 642 in Dresden Airport Livery together with the route extension. https://www.bahnbilder.de/bild/deut...ein-desiro-mit-airport-werbung-kommt-als.html
So the new 642 also drives there, not only the 143? Well then this would be absolutely perfect to layer the 642 into DRA.
They said multiple times already, last time in the weekend charity stream, that this route extension won't happen on DRA.
Not anymore these days, the 642 ran this route when the tracks to the airport were not fully electrified
Plans can Change. I understood, that there are currently no plans for the route expansion. I don't give up Hope that one fine Day I'll be able to take the S2 to the Airport in TSW and not just IRL.
They said multiple times that the TSW4 upgrade of DRA does not include a map upgrade. While we all are concious about the fact that they didn't and most of all do not want to create it, it does not mean we can't raise the wish to make it part of it in the future. This thread is called Nahverkehr Dresden Upgrade Requests and this is an upgrade request of mine.
Yeah can still hope, but Matt's statement regarding a question for that particular extension sounded pretty clear.
Yes, I know. He is very stubborn about this one. I don't know why in particular, because he self stated that he likes to play this route a lot, which - if it were true - does not make sense for me to speak against it so clearly. And the branch is really not too far to disclaim it would be too long or complicated to make, just about the same length as the Coswig-Meißen branch. But I guess the most turn off for DTG is that they need to recreate a big part of the nothern city of Dresden for that and they're just too lazy to do so probably. A shame.
It's nothing to do with laziness. It will probably be too much work for too little gain seeing as scenery is the hardest part of creating a route.
Yeah. Lots of complicated urban scenery on the airport branch, but the gameplay you get from it isn't actually that interesting. The airport branch would be a worthwhile thing to include if they ever make one of the diesel routes beyond Dresden-Klotzsche. Otherwise, I don't really mind its absence...
Cost-efficieny is the hardest thing for sure. Not without a reason they create so many new DLCs and barely enhance older ones. Which I can understand to an extent to keep a business running, but DTG takes cost-efficieny to a whole new level by shutdown support and interest of a DLC quickly after its launch. It's pretty easy to see that they only create content to sell, not for the interest in the content itself. This is a difference in comparison to other game developer, who really want to get the best possible out of there content to satisfy not only the costumers, but also comply their own principles. Considering that TSW DLCs are placed in an intermediate to premium price level, it's reasonable that we as costumers can have higher demands to the content than other games in form of maintenance and prestige. But DTG misses to understand that point and that's why so many people feel disappointed of them.
I can only agree partly there. Some routes (SEHS in particular) get more love and attention than others. Really it should happen to them all though.
Yes, they are indeed biased to UK routes (just like everyone of us with their favorite routes and home country), and especially some they love and like (maybe even use frequently). Not really agree to that SEHS is an amazingly upgraded route either as I am not a fan of it, but I get your point. When you get professional you shall be less subjective as possible. They should be able to find out what the wishes and demands in the community are, before prioritizing their own fanboy stuff. One reason I can think of why they don't upgrade more routes is the limited resources. But if they really had an interest to upgrade them, they would hire more people. Money is enough there to do so. That won't be a problem.
I think that it’s a matter of performance and stability, too. The route was very problematic back than when it was published, especially on consoles. Even when TSW 3 was launched DRA was crashing at the beginning on Xbox. Then they solved it. There is already so much going on, especially in the Dresden HBF area. More branches would probably cause more trouble, that’s my thought why they don’t want to extend it. That could also be the reason why the timetable was not extended with f.e. the ICE1.
They don’t like doing extensions as their a bit more complicated to do and they would rather put focus on new route dlc’s instead, the services for the airport are already there, it’s just a bit further of the current line and about 4 stations. The route was cut to hit DTG release window times, TSW2 rush hour was still delayed, the planning wasn’t done early enough/too quick of a self imposed finish date. most memory issues are related to Dresden HBf. edit: I’m also of the thought they planned to cut out the Reigate branch on BML, hence explaining its scenery issues but backlash to the cuts on Dresden had them worried of repeating, the streams were quite up on tension (i believe is the word) when the cut happened.
