I know this has been raised before but I think it warrants further discussion. I tried to name my own local scenario ‘Christmas,’ however the name censor would not allow this. Why are the names of our own scenarios filtered? I understand moderating Creators Club, but when I can’t name my own scenario ‘Christmas’ surely change is needed… Perhaps reserve the filter for CC only, but with an added appeal system if the filter has been silly.
Protection of what? Me? I’m not talking about CC, just my own local unshared scenarios. I have no problem with DTG moderating shared content obviously.
I do think that the profanity filter is another good example of a 'lack of care' from DTG. I have no problems with filters in general but, if you are going to use them, make sure that they work as intended (even if that involves manual intervention). How on earth routes can be released that have start and finish locations that the filter then blocks I'll never know. I'm assuming that the filter is a "one size fits all" issue and that, in DTGs eyes, protecting you from yourself is a good thing. Slegehammer to crack a nut? (Although, ironically, the filter probably wouldn't actually allow anyone to talk about their nuts).
What on earth is offensive about the word Christmas?! If suddenly Christmas is offensive, then there must have been many who have suffered over the last 24 hours!
Talk about toxic familiy traits, then you'll see a lot of people actually being traumatized by Christmas gatherings, but... that's another story
Yeah like my younger daughter who received an ಠ_ಠ Amazon refurbished iPhone 13 pro-Max from my wife, as a CHRISTMAS gift... She may need to receive counseling now. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
No not you, some things that defeat the purpose of tsw, I.e names related to violence, sex ,You know?
I still don't see how it can be offensive when "Christmas" is a holiday though. Same as passengers. Who would see that word and think of "ass".
the filter is more than likely designed that way, “Christ” probably is the part that’s prohibited but the full word gets prohibited cause it can pick out words from in between, same thing happens with “class” I think It’s overly sensitive probably because it’s automatic and not created entirely by DTG themselves. I also play another Xbox game “Bus Sim 21” it to has the same overly sensitive approach if not more so, “FA3” and “Dam” is prohibited for example with that game, zero clue why though.
Maybe the thought behind is to stop people using names like "christ" in a pejorative way, because it might not be received well by the community. Anyway, as said before it's not a filter that DTG designed. I think it was more of a copy-paste work of a sheet that already existed.
It's also the walking (metaphorically) definition of the Scunthorpe Problem... And yes, I'm pretty sure Scunthorpe is a banned term with that filter. While DTG don't make the censorship filter (I am almost certain it's bought from another company although I wouldn't know which one) and therefore isn't a complaint towards them, I think that it is very silly to ban words such as Christ for this reason - especially since, while I haven't tested it, I suspect figures from other religions aren't on that list. I'm an atheist, and I have the same reaction to 'Allah' as I do to 'Christ' or to 'Buddha'... Complete indifference.
I would imagine it is, countless problems I've run into having to replace the 't' with a '?', and that's outside of TSW.
may have been put on as a way at keeping topics of religion in general from being on CC, I ain’t sure about anything else in that regard but I’m pretty sure topics of politics is also not meant to be allowed on CC.
I would direct the complaint towards DTG, while they might not have coined the filter software, or whatever, they implemented it and haven't gone back to address these issues we mention now, make some tweaks, further additions to a white list or something at least. It's too hands off, lacks nuance currently and needs eyes on periodically. Scunthorpe & Penistone are real places... Guess that Penistone Express will have to wait. Lol
I agree. The filter might not be DTG's fault, but it's their fault for choosing it and not addressing our issues.
Ta my saagh crowal lane dy astanyn marrey. (blowing off 30 years of dust, before signalling took over)
That's also possible, although that does open the debate about whether Christmas is religious or not. As someone who doesn't really care for the holiday, it's a debate I'll sit out of. It's true, they should have modified it since we've been complaining about it since TSW2 came out three years ago.
I find it hard to believe that, when a company purchases a profanity filter, there isn't an option to tailor it to the world in which you want to use it? To have "Blackpool", "Liverpool" and "Saltburn" banned seems very strange considering we have routes that start / finish at those places. (And that is before we get into Peniston, Cockermouth and Arsenal).
yea probably a controversial path, personally if it wasn’t for the gifts and roast dinner I’d sit it out aswell
Maybe try in binary that will work : 01000100 01110010 01100101 01110011 01100100 01100101 01101110 00101101 01010010 01101001 01100101 01110011 01100001 00100000 01101001 01110011 00100000 01100100 01100001 00100000 01100010 01100101 01110011 01110100

It's worse than we thought. I've just had a post put on moderator approval for mentioning the name of a highly respected, award winning actor. So that is "Our Lord" and "Our favourite Dracula" cheesed off simultaneously. This is becoming a bit more than a pain in the neck.
So in that case you're screwed if you share that name. Oh yeah found a new word the local filter doesn't like. 'Updated'. Gonna need a bigger facepalm...
Sorry if this was suggested before, but did you try typing in Xmas possibly? Seems that the In-game word filter is just as strict as the one in roblox. Though I have seen some pretty baffling liveries on the creation club XD
