Hi, Need advice on system config required for train sim world 2 game. I got a Win 11 laptop with 8GM Ram and Intel IRISXe Graphics card. Would appreciate any advice on which GPU should I go for and whether I can use it in tandem with the existing grapics card. Thanks
How do you want to get an external gpu for a laptop? If you want to use a Thunderbolt enclosure, make sure you also have a proper port for it (not sure how common that is novadays). Any app will only use one graphics card to do it's thing. There is no way to fuse them together for higher framerate. As a more reasonable upgrade, I would suggest adding an extra stick of RAM for a total of 16 gigs.
The Intel Xe is reportedly a significant improvement on their HD series of graphics processors. If you carefully adjust your game settings, you might be pleasantly surprised at how it runs TSW2. Intel claims 60fps @ 1080p, but whether this works for TSW2 you'll have to see. As Tomas9970 advises, definitely add another 8 GB of ram. That will help significantly. An external gpu needs a Thunderbolt 3 or 4 connection and the card plus the box to house it will be expensive, several hundred $ or £. And as the previous poster says, using an eGPU will likely disable your internal card. You might end up doubling the original cost of your laptop.
