Hello, This morning, when I wanted to play a round in Free Play mode, I noticed that I have two Br 218s. I even took a photo. I couldn't remember buying two Br 218s or that it was included in a DLC.
I just checked myself and indeed it is a new Bundesbahn version of the 218. The cab has been changed slightly too. (Spawned n free roam on Niddertalbahn).
What Platform are you on? I have the new 218 on Xbox, but a Steam user told me they don't have the Loco yet. It seems like it was released a bit too early again.
I know, the thing hasn't properly been released yet, but I'm already very excited for it The addition of the clock is a great touch! But shouldn't PZB be replaced by Indusi to fit the 1984 timetable's setting? Well, that's a compromise I'm willing to accept. And another little nitpick: Shouldn't the blue of the livery be a little darker? Does look almost turquoise to my eyes.
Nice catch. I'm too old to be the giddy schoolboy waiting for Christmas. But hell yes, I'm really excited to have TSG's E94 DLC on my TSW installation. Day-one purchase, for sure.
I think the inscription "DB Regio AG - Region Nord" and the loco number "9280 1 218 452-1 D-DB" are wrong for the era of the Bundesbahn from 1984. This are inscription from the 2000s (2007) and should be changed prior release. Kind regards.
It does look nice. I know DB's thing is red and all, but it does get boring sometimes. More content for the 218 is always welcome.
If we're going into that level of detail, the "Größte zulässige Geschwindigkeit" (max allowable speed) sticker between the front windows is post-2000's style as well
I could be wrong here, but isn't the Linke Rheinstrecke a late 90s or early 2000s route? Then it would be pretty close to appropriate. Why are people asking about 1984? The DLC press page mentions both a 1980s and "modern" rail service timetables for both Linke and Ludwig. I couldn't tell you what would be period accurate in either case on a German rail line, but maybe wait to see what's released? A 2007 loco on a "modern" timetable wouldn't be out of place, and Ludwig is...2014 or 2015ish? https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/train-sim-world/articles/article/epic-mega-sale-now-on
The current timetable is set in 1998, that's correct. But TSG's upcoming E94 pack will introduce a new timetable set in 1984 for the route, since the E94 wasn't in service anymore in 1998 PZB (or to be correct: PZB 90) has been introduced gradually during the 90's. Before that, there was Indusi, as seen in Mittenwaldbahn's 111.
But there's two timetables according to the link on two different routes, so maybe the "modern" 218 isn't for the 1980s timetable.
Even for the 1998 version the RIC inscription is wrong. I do feel the urge to politely ask, if any research is ever done for such historical or present day projects? I mean, this was a two minute Google search and there are three books in German from EK Verlag about this loco. It really disappoints and saddens alike. Here's is a link to a few close ups from a model: https://www.reisezugwagen.eu/?p=13506 And here is the real one:
Let's all please not get ahead of ourselves and just wait and see how the final version is going to look like. Most definitely the one we've got now has been released prematurely and on accident, who knows how far away the actual DLC is. I suggest patience. Give TSG all the time they need to work out the kinks. Considering their track record, I trust them to do their research thoroughly
Agreed. To me TSG is up there with JT, so I think they know what they're doing. I really need to see what they release before judging it.
