Routes like Preston to Carlisle or some German routes like Salzburg to Rosenheim feature neutral sections on the line which requires player input like resetting a circuit breaker or notch down the throttle in the case of the Class 87, I thought it could be helpful to have neutral zones be represented in the Track Monitor. This would be especially helpful for night time drives or other instances where visibility is low and you may miss a warning sign. I made a hastily put-together concept of the interface to show you what I mean (super basic) with the N representing the start of a neutral zone
This would be super useful, at least until you know the route and the neutral locations. I have been caught out a few times where I have been watching the speedometer and missed the White on Black warning signs and only realised once I pass the Black on White signs which cause the power to run down.
This had been mentioned a few times on Streams I’ve been watching. It’s a really good idea. I love that the 87 is so accurate and responds to neutral sections properly, but when I’m playing a game after work to relax, I’m definitely not as focused as a real train driver would be. Would be so nice so see them In the HUD.
I would love neutral sections on the track monitor. I already suggested it a long time ago. DTG never did anything with it though. Maybe the renewed attention this is getting can make it happen.
I suggest also the tunnels for every routes are signed in grey sections (like stations are signed in blue) and level crossing in red or whit one red X
Definitely needed, the whole point of the track monitor is to tell one what's coming up, for those who don't want the HUD-less experience.
I would propose an option in settings too to allow us to disable things we don't want, just to prevent track monitor from getting too crowded. For example, while some would find tunnels helpful - I wouldn't. And while neutral sections in track monitor could be good, if they are not simulated and just signed, there isn't much point in having a warning of it coming up. So that indicator would only be useful for those who play routes where it is simulated, such as WCMLOS.
Perhaps the older 25kv AC routes should be reworked to feature working neutral sections. We have clearly seen that there is a working system with JTs latest route. These types of quality of life improvements would make all the difference. Of course I am aware that you need someone to do the work but surely a worthwhile project.
Certainly - all for QOL improvements. Think probably though they aught to somehow have a way to enable/disable neutral sections in settings - and certainly have tutorials.
awesome idea... I mean, for German/Austrian routes this isnt as necessary, as you get a pretty advanced sign with good visibility and size... but on UK and US routes where often it is black and white (on US routes simply "DS" barely visible, especially at speed), definitely a good idea, approved
