I was doing a rerun of the DTG Railtours on the timetable and recently discovered that two Flying Scotsmans whilst coming off the loop outside of Retford so I highly suggest getting another steam loco for the East coast Main Line to work alongside Flying Scotsman or better yet add the BR Black Jubilee Leander and Kolhapur to the timetable for extra steam railtour services plus the classic diesel locos too.

I like to add that steam locos are on high demand for TSW 4 despite when someone says do not suggest steam locos that is kind of a bad move in my personal opinion I understand its much to do but my advice is never give up on building steam locomotives for the game the person who developed Scotsman could develop the A4 using the only active one Sir Nigel Gresley plus drawings from the National Railway Museum in York

Personally I’m not a fan of steam locos myself, but there’s obviously a huge fan base of steam locos enthusiasts here in the forums. It makes no sense for DTG to abandon steam if the demand is there for it. Since there’s no way to track how well steam sold, only by what Matt said about it not being a huge seller. I can’t imagine it financially hurting the company, or maybe it did. It’s hard to believe anything we’re told.

It's DTG that we need to convince and before (if) they make anything else they need to get someone in who can fix and improve the core as regards steam traction. A course of action they seem unwilling to entertain, when it's so much easier to go out and find a letterbox window EMU and alias it to Ernie's milk float sounds.

I'm not the one in charge, but if DTG ever considers steam again, I would prefer a german or US steam loco (maybe even in a wild west setup or something like that) than another UK steam train.

This also could be better for future steam development in general, as DTG could test steam for quite different audience.

RobertSchulz, your wild west US steam route sounds awesome! It would be great to see a UP Sherman Hill 1869-1880s route with a UP 4-4-0 American (including #119), 2-6-0 Mogul, and 2-8-0 Consolidation, plus a selection of freight and passenger cars. The route was made for TS Classic a couple of years ago, so maybe we could see it added to TSW4.

I'd love to see UP #4014, UP #844, and UP #3985 on Sherman Hill and/or Cajon Pass, ATSF #3751 and #2926 on Cajon Pass, N&W #611 and NKP #765 on Horseshoe Curve, and SP #4449 on Cajon.

Still hoping for SP Donner Pass with AC-Class 4-8-8-2 Cab Forwards, 2-8-0 Consolidations, 2-10-2s and 4-10-2 Overlands.

For British routes: the LNER A4 (especially Mallard), LMS Black 5, 8F, Castle, Hall-Class (Hogwarts Express loco), etc.

For German routes: Kriegslok 2-10-0; also Harz Narrow Gauge Route

Other steam routes I want: Ffestiniog, Cumbres and Toltec, Durango and Silverton, Grand Canyon RR

If Steam were to come back into TSW. Dovetail should create a better steam loco physic's to create real steam loco operations and fix the problems with AI steam and add the promised Manuel fireman feature.

From postings seen in other threads, it seems DTG effectively continued to give steam traction the firm middle finger, in the latest Roadmap stream…

Well, now we know the real reason steam is gone from TSW. Nothing technical, nothing economic. Apparently driving steam engines is just not fun. Players prefer the " new, fun stuff ", meaning I guess the simple arcade style electric toy trains. There you have it. Someone at DTG finally flat out said it. :D
