For those of you that weren’t aware, my skybox mod, which is currently exclusive to a PC mod only, is officially coming to all platforms for TSW 2. This has been officially added to the core of TSW 2, and will work on all TSW 2 and updated preserved routes. It will be released in an upcoming update, so hopefully not too long left to wait.

Click the link to get a preview of what the new clouds will look like. Can’t wait for you all to enjoy it :)

The difference is very big. The game looks more natural. I am glad that console users lived to see that day \o/ BR o7

Looks good, is this just for UK routes? Clouds look very different depending on where you are in the world.

It’s for all routes. DTG may have done some additional work to them but assume they will look like what they look in the pictures.

For more layers/lower level clouds, that’s something DTG will have to add.

Thanks. Currently there’s some core limitations, as explained on the mod page, but DTG may have done some additional work to fix these issues.

This looks great and as a playstation player I'm really looking forward to this. I do have a few questions though:
    1. Does it improve the 'washed out' look that TSW has when it has full cloud cover?
    2. Does it affect night-time lighting? I like driving in that short window when it is darkest before it gets lighter again either immediately after sunset or just before sunrise. Will it affect this in any way?
    3. Can you get DTG to implement your rain mod as well? Love the look of that one too. :)

    Thanks for the comments :)

1.) As far as I’m aware, this doesn’t affect the lighting on the ground in any way whatsoever. The clouds themselves may look less washed out, however.

2.) Night lighting remains unchanged. You still have the short window of ‘proper darkness’

3.) I haven’t had any discussions about the rain mod so far. I will wait for them to approach me if they wish to implement it into the game.

Thanks. I hope so too. I would love more variety in cloud types and height. Currently TSW only supports the high level clouds.

It does look great (alongside all of your other mods I’ve seen).

It’s great to see DTG implementing community work too, hopefully they’ll continue to do so where it’s feasible.

Update: DTG aren't using the exact copy of my mod, but are using one based off the tests they've ran, whilst they were testing my mod.

So this could potentially mean we will get even better looking clouds :)

I think the current skybox cloud system, which is still imlpemeted in TSW2, comes originally from "Euro Fishing" or "Fishing Sim World" and was adapted for TSW. Just saw a democlip of your new version on youtube and it looks definitly better and much more realistic! That means with your new skybox mod DTG can also improve its fishing games.
...to be clear: I prefer to drive trains than to go vrtual fishing! ;)

It definitely changes the look and feel of the gameplay. Hopefully DTG will continue the trend of including community made mods into their game officially.

That looks great. I'm new to the game and I had heard about skybox on the stream I guess, didn't know what it was but I know now. So you don't work for DTG? I didn't know TSW had a modder community. What else did you make for TSW? Are there mod we can expect on Playstation?

No, I don’t work for DTG. I just made it as a PC only mod but DTG recognised how popular it was and asked for my permission for them to test it out. They then created their own version based on what I did. Hopefully they’ll release it soon in an update.

As far as I’m aware there are no other community made updates coming officially for TSW 2 at this moment.

Keep your eyes peeled on Friday’s stream to see if it features in BML. That should be a big indicator so I assume.

I have only seen mention of it on the Peninsula Corridor preserved crew pass, so I don’t think you will see it on BML but who knows.

It didn’t feature in the BML livestream unfortunately but I heard it should come out with the Peninsula Corridor update. When they actually release that is anyones guess.

Is Penninsula Corridor not being released alongside Tuesdays update? It would be really unfortunate if it missed that window of opportunity.

I don’t think we will see the Peninsula Corridor Preservation crew update yet, I am sure Adam mentioned on a stream that they hoped to get it out before the end of the year.

Call me skeptical, but I doubt londonmidland would have posted this last week if we weren't to get it in the next or if not the one after. As we've BML next week one would surmise update incoming, and with Cornwall like soon after that there'll be another.

Gilly There’s no coincidence to the timing of the thread. I have no idea as to when DTG will actually push out the update, but I am/was optimistic it’ll be in the not too distant future.
