Hello, today I would like to present some new features in Train Sim World that could improve the quality of the game and make it more realistic. 1. First of all, an important thing that could be added to German/Austrian routes is EBuLa (Elektronischer Buchfahrplan für Lokomotivführer und Zugbegleiter). It is an electronic timetable system used by train drivers and conductors in Germany. In my opinion, with this feature the game could be more realistic, more difficult and show some of the difficulties of being a train driver. Reading the German timetable is not an easy thing for everyone, so in my opinion, this function should be optional for experienced players of this game. 2. Another function that could be added to the game is the possibility of apperance occurrence, such as a person on the tracks, a dangerous situation on the railway line, a locomotive defect, running traffic on one track on a double-track line, failure of signaling and safety systems. In my opinion, this is a very important feature that would make the game more realistic and more interesting. This option should also be optional for players who have more patience, time and like more entertainment. Additionally, there should be an option to call an auxiliary locomotive that could take us to the nearest station in the case of a breakdown of our train and possibility to repair our broken locomotive at the nearest railway workshop. 3. The next feature that, in my opinion, should be added to Train sim world is a "timetable creation assistant". This would help players create a free-running timetable so that the train we are driving does not collide with other trains in rail traffic. For example, when creating a timetable for a freight train from point A to B, the system would suggest stations where we should stop and for how long to let other passenger trains pass. 4. The last and interesting feature that could be added to the game is loading/unloading the train. In the game, on many routes, we can find a large number of sidings on which we can drive the train, but we cannot load or unload it, so a good solution would be the possibility of loading or unloading the train to make the game more interesting and more like the work of a train driver. To sum up, there are many interesting ideas for features that could be added to the game to make it one of the most realistic railway games. I hope that over time, dovetail will add more and more interesting game features and remove bugs in the game. I'd love to hear your opinions on my ideas and read your ideas. Thank you for your attention.
For point 2, we already have scenarios that could simulate that, and indeed there are some where you rescue train or run down the wrong line as a diversion (NTP there's a scenario where you rescue a failed train and BML you go on the Up Line for a short stretch).
point 1 is sth that some ppl would even pay for, I believe it would finally make driving HUDless a real alternative without having to overcome some misshaps in the game to do so... plus a tutorial/manual on how to read the various signs in the Ebula, maybe some explanation on approach speeds, switches in the Fahrplan etc.
2. Strongly disagree with person on the tracks - could bring back trauma for railway workers who may have experienced a similar real life situation. Your other suggestions for point 2 are good though, and are also similar to my thoughts here https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/disruption-mode.79518/ 4. Similar to loading and unloading, it would be good to see some kind of option to force remove all passengers from the cabin for ECS etc. Even better if it is automatically implemented.
He suggested that it should be optional. I don't see why an optional feature shouldn't be introduced because some might find it traumatic. Simply don't activate it.
If you run the Goblin Line at least one of the stations has someone stood in the four foot. Has been reported to DTG but seems apathy prevails. As a retired railwayman who has experienced fatalities both when travelling on train and on a fairly regular basis dealing with from the Control point of view, big no from me to anything like that. However random operational occurrences would spice up a run - a signal failure, emergency track repairs that sort of thing. No good having as part of a scripted scenario as you know what’s going to happen and that loses part of the fun factor. The argument we have heard from DTG and some quarters against this is that it would destroy the timetable, if the sequencing gets out of whack so, say, a later train arrives first and occupies the platform which your train would use. My answer to that is, smarten up the AI signaller/despatcher then so it can replatform or reroute trains to get round that. Zusi manages to cope quite competently with out of course running and it spices things up a bit.
I disagree a lot with that one. That's not what i want to see in a simulator. And honestly, the TOCs giving their licenses also don't want to see how a loco branded with their logo rolls over an NPC.
I also have to disagree strongly on the "person on the tracks" notion. That doesn't belong in a sim like this. On the other hand, the idea of having an option to turn on random events is quite appealing. Like having to switch to the opposite track for a while because of construction or maintenance work, or having something in your train break down and you have to deal with it, that would be a treat. Although very hard to implement, I admit. An integrated, working EBuLa (and itineraries on paper for older vehicles) would be something I'd be willing to pay for
speaking of Ebula, there could be a proxy tool instead, I believe sth similar was suggested in an Ebula thread - putting the info into the timetable thing that appears when you press T... but I would modify that suggestion - this T would bring up not only stops, but also "events" like changing track, speed limits... stuff that Ebula displays... this could be an option to turn on in gameplay options you could choose between the present look and the "Ebula" look with detailed route info... and it could move with your progress on the route, I guess
