I'm surprised nobody talked about it but here's the link to the patch note : https://skyhookgames.com/tsw-4-midland-main-line-may-2024-patch-notes/ Really really nice to see Skyhook polishing the MML again. A quick summary of the update : -2 services with the Flying Scotsman -Improvement and bug fixes to the 158 and HST -Improvement to the route The route is almost perfect now, only lack a 221 and it's good !
LucaZone Will all the collectables now be collectable with the correct number of each one being on the route?
I'm not easily impressed but that is quite an exhaustive improvement and bug fixing list. Looking forward to get Cargo Volume 2 on day one.
Sounds promising. I’m not absolutely certain whether they’re saying the timetable is being fully corrected to reflect the real timetable (hope so), or whether they’re just using the AI timetable and rounding all the times to whole minutes (which I don’t think would work well). We’ll see. The correction of signalling and approach control functionality sounds really promising. It’s a bit of a shame they’re using Flying Scotsman rather than the Jubilee, as the Jubilee’s physics are much less bad, and it’s a midland region locomotive on what is a midland region railway. Still, it’s no major issue now that we have Free Roam. Good to see the route’s still being updated. I’m looking forward to trying it out.
As I said on the MML feedback thread it is really pleasant to read this, and a massive thanks to Adam & co for this. I really am looking forward to their next route as if the same quality and passion that has been applied to the MML improvements goes into it we will be onto a winner.
LucaZone Really good list of improvements! I've had a look through but was unsure if the following should be fixed in this: The invisible walls between HST coaches The low HST rendering at short distance (with the headlight covers changing from circles to rectangles etc.) CE-34878-0 crashes on PS4 Really glad to see the timetable is fixed.
Patch notes will probably be on the next roadmap (9th May). Simply, there hasn't been a release date yet.
Fantastic stuff. Very comprehensive update. Well done to Skyhook for taking pride in their work and releasing good thorough updates. If only Rivet took note...
No mention of the 158 tunnel noises deafening us all? I won't use this train because of how bad it is.
Can we just appreciate this? And I'm a bit tired of comparisons with Rivet. Skyhook too have a backlog of issues with their other releases that have not been properly addressed, and it took MML one year to be finished now. So show the same patience for Rivet. LucaZone Thanks for your work!
It's also related to the tunnel itself and must be adjusted for each tunnel / bridge on the route as JetWash told me, if memory serves me right.
That gets slightly hard to believe when it's only the 158 which has such a dramatic increase in tunnel noise. It sounds like the window is open and all external sounds are playing at the same time as the internal ones, at a much higher volume. It's jarring.
I am wondering if the individuals who are commenting on the loud sounds in tunnels are wearing headphones? It doesn't sound all that loud on speakers.
It’s a nice bunch of fixes and changes. I am going to buy the cargo packs when Vol. 2 comes out. It’s a cracking little route and these changes will make it even better. All from such a shocking start too. It was a fantastic move by Skyhook to get Adam on board and he’s delivering the goods (I know, bad cargo pun). I think the people who think the bridge sounds are fine might already be deaf (or possibly playing on a different platform). They are shockingly loud on PS5, headphones or not, especially when using an external camera. I’ve not conducted a full investigation as to whether having windows open or closed changes it though.
I politely disagree with you. The Rivet comparison is valid in its own right. WCL was released 3 years ago, and Edinburgh to Glasgow were released just over a year ago. Yet they all still have ongoing issues and bugs that will most likely be left now in true Rivet style... the point is Skyhook have released 2 big updates within that time scale and listened to community. They are setting an example of how things should be done. Well done to Skyhook again... Update sounds superb.
The difference being is that Rivet has never shown any interest whatsoever in improving their content. Whereas Skyhook have made some really positive improvements that have greatly enhanced MML from a poor route to one of the best in the game.
Skyhook has done a great job, I still remembered when MML was released, it has many bugs and it's scenery is far from good, at that time MML was considered as a bad product. However, Skyhook heard players' feedback and kept improving MML, fixing bugs, improving scenery and release Cargo Line Vol. 1 ( bring some new freight services) , all their efforts have change MML a lot and MML is a high quality route now. Even MML has been released for more than a year, their are still improving it, and I hope that DTG and Rivets can learn from Skyhook, especially Rivets.
It's probably possible because skyhook don't have as much dlc compared to dtg who work on multiple dlc at the same time. Benefit of 3rd parties is that they can spend more time on their projects and go at their own pace
"It's probably possible ..." Thanks for being THE source of a good chuckle everynowandthen. You never fail to entertain.
I've just gone back and tried it out again, and I can see what people mean about the tunnels. I had genuinely not really noticed it before, but it does get quite a bit louder, so I stand corrected. I used to live in Grantham and work in Peterborough so went through Stoke Tunnel a lot on HSTs with the window open, so maybe that's why I never thought about it before. I'm used to it being loud.
Really good improvements showing on this update. Could the 170 (for people who reluctantly purchased this), not be featured in these updates.. I am not sure which licenses they do have, I was wondering whether Cross Country had been cleared you see..
And you could’ve been clear about adding layers… I thought you were talking about updating the 170, the train itself only.
Presumably the 170 in crosscountry would require modelling changes, cab changes and the likes. So probably not realistic, just for layers, if they even have the licence.
You could say that about many other added layers. An example being; WCL with a class 40 and the Steam Loco DLC..
As for this: Removed Ratcliffe cooling tower smoke effects due to performance concerns Will the water vapour be removed or am I misunderstanding? I hope this is not the case because I really like the way it looks now
Yeah there's no performance issue. Modern games should be scalable to the hardware - so please leave it in for PC! Didn't buy that thing to play games looking like vintage PS4... But then it can be probably modded back in. Or make it the Mastery that can then be toggled, and put the Fayre, that many players are not able to see, permanently into the map.
There's no reason why a ScotRail 170 would be layered onto the MML unless it was as static stock at Litchurch lane
I know the route isn't exactly set in the present, forget the future, but sadly the plant will be sat there with the chimneys being useless in a few months time. A shame to lose the effects, especially seeing as they'll be something of the past soon, though I'd rather lose them than be facing crashes.
Just had a play with this, looks like a very nice upgrade. However, I think they forgot to sort out the approach control for the junction from Attenborough to Long Eaton (80 to 30mph, don't know the name of the jucntion). Still showing as double yellow to single yellow with feather. Should be at least flashing yellows or release from red, as it doesn't give you enough warning. Shame we just can't go in and sort ourselves. Never mind, maybe one for the next update.
The livery for the 158 got borked after todays update, get this weird part wet/ part dry texture when it's raining which is a shame, other than that from what I've seen the update is looking good so far.
Uh oh, another approach controlled jucntion not sorted, this time approaching E Mids Parkway from the north, 70-25mph, same issue as mentioned earlier, double yellow, yellow with feather. Needs at least flashing yellows. Also noticed a calling on light attached to main signal still showing 2 reds, should be either unlit or 2 whites. Maybe I don't have the correct build. Also getting extra AWS clear pings approaching both Loughborough and E mids from the south, both approaching 50 limits - I've a feeling the 'extra' magnets were for the speed restriction boards.. Apart from that, route feels great, runs v smooth. Whoever did the foliage did a great job, great use of the more realistic trees and bushes, not over-using the silly looking mini poplar type tree which seems to be quite popular (sorry) in recent routes.
