My suggestion to DTG is this. I feel the game lacks any incentive to proper grind. I use the word grind because a few games I play are online. So there is a direct competition between players and so grinding is part of reaching the top of online rankings or simply getting gold parts, more money etc. Reaching the top means you have better chance of joining a top team with a huge following on YT. Now I am not expecting TSW to be like an online game but could there be a reason to grind. Could be to climb a leaderboard or meet targets to gain better awards. For example each Tuesdays night I could win prices that if I was to buy could cost 20 pound or more. A vanity or a car, sound pack all shorts. I’m own around 800 or so items, I’d say 90 percent Ive won not bought. Ie I often gain platinum so win cars, cars that might cost up to 15 quid or more to buy when purchasing the CC. Real money needs to be spent if some players can’t win races to gain money needed to purchase without spending real money. Why grinding on level 5 means better part more money more xp. This helps in summit events where some mint prices can be won. The company that developed the game brought up understands to keep the game selling or players continue with micro transactions it must remain in the spot light. This can only be achieved if player use, that’s where the free items serve as an incentive to pick up the game play or grind. My suggestion is this. TSW offers Mastery awards with DLCs and then we have the Monthly Challenges with a simple decal. Now let’s imagine the reader is child for one moment. We play the game on average 2 hours a day. Just driving. Then the MC comes out. All it offer is this for doing what players do anyway during normal play time. But your mates play different games because it’s online and offer awards like this. There is no real incentive for the child playing TSW to gain something so bland. While doing nothing special above normal playing conditions. No grinding less time on TSW, yet with a real incentive they might continue playing TSW an extra hour or two. Four hours playing and keeping them to the franchise because if a child or anyone else for that matter has no interest to pick up there a risk they might not bother returning if we can see what looks more appealing to a child. Let me get this clear tho I appreciate this is a simulator games where playing around with routes etc would not go down well with players. The topic of fictional themed routes. So build on what DTG have already but add incentive to grind. Here you will see a little experiment using the basic MC award decal to gain access to a TSW Train Operator Approved scheme. Just a basic concept of getting players to play for the MC anyway if it’s not being utilised because after gaining so many they become a member. So if a player achieves all 12 awards for that year (New game release) they can be awarded a little banner like shown on the cab. I could expand the ideas even further but what I’ve suggested should give a basic overview on how to possibly increase player time by offering more incentives. I do feel looking at this from a child’s perspective or even social setting due to how many young players opt for online games. Games offer play time the ability to socialise with friends, classmates even folk in different regions. The fact online games or subscriptions services will make games as we know obsolete. It’s the next big shift in gaming. It makes sense because of how much it cost to keep on line servers running while the game no longer turns a profit. I can’t believe the gaming industry through that was a long term strategy. I’ve always said that users should subscribe to a franchise to keep it running for players who still want to play while turning a profit and stabilising the gaming industry on a whole. How can user expect the upkeep of online games to be done so without no revenue from players. Close the servers down and all get upset. And rightfully so because it was such a stupid strategy all along to think any game would be popular years after release. The only way to do so is by updating and adding more and more free content. Wasted on a dead game. I have gone off my own topic of suggestions, you’ll have to forgive me. My mind never stops. To sum up the game needs more incentive than what it offers players now. For the little waffle about the future of games then it might be worth considering that today with TSW or future releases. Why wait for others or wait fully stop when the writing beens on the wall for years. The industry is only now waking up to that fact. Be a Leader DTG of trends not a follower. Those who write the future control it. Rigsby. ✌.
I actually think the SCS Community Challenges offer better incentives: Rewards Personal: Players that deliver cargo to or from the required 18 cities in Nordic Horizons will gain a personal World of Trucks Achievement and a beautiful Northern Tides ETS2 truck paint job Steam inventory item. Community: When the community goal of driving 300,000,000 km during deliveries to or from any Nordic Horizons city is met, and if the player has also achieved their personal goal, then they will receive a striking Viking Helmet dashboard ornament Steam inventory item. Something like this would add more purpose.
Exactly and why I say the ideas could be expanded. Let’s take decals for an example. A player could have a multitude of options on a job or route. Different difficult levels that can’t be changed. Each Job or tier opens up a rare skin. These skins could be voted for by the community if DTG opened up content along those lines. CC creators get a change of a skin being made. Take it one step further with the job options could allow players to alter the model. Different bogies, Horns, grill layouts. I could be here all day. But like I’ve said a few times now it’s easy to throw ideas or suggestions around. It’s getting the things to work in the real world. Plus TSW has no online features that could real facility a reward feature like adding different bogies etc. Sound packs even, a quick thought there. What ever the case do you feel are agree that TSW could offer more than what it does now, taking all what I said in my original thread opening into account. Especially the part about getting players to use TSW more than wonder off playing a different title. So what you’ve suggested is what I had in mind if the first suggestion was considered. What you have said I can’t agree on more because it’s along the lines of what I’d want to see. It’s so annoying not able to personal speak or share these ideas to toy around with, expand on or even have DTG to get players feedback on if the wider community wants to see them do something like add extra layers of content or functions for the monthly challenges. Shake things up a little, and if nothing else it serves as a distraction. If this carries on I’m going look into setting my own games studio up ✌.
