Excellent news that we're getting a new EMU (Class 385) with a new route. A lovely run to Dunblane and Alloa with a working PIS system too. The 385 is going to enhance all of the other electrified Scotrail routes. Even though it's not my favourite area it's important that new rolling stock is being made so TSC can keep pace with the real railway.
Being done by Thomson Interactive it will be quite detailed. Glad they have done it rather than Rivet as I will buy it.
Cant wait for this, got a fondness of Scottish routes , currently been playing the Edinburgh-glasgow electrified route off the workshop and the 385 is definitely needed.
Price has jumped up like the TSW prices as well though but I do hope this route is good I like the ol Scottish routes
I waited a long time for class 385 in TS but the price... Mmmmm.... 1170 (!) rubles is too expensive for 35 miles (even for 385), I would prefer to wait for winter discounts
The 385 is something to potentially look forward to. I suspected it since seeing TSW get one. Thomson came through. Now to see if it can be integrated with other routes.
Of course it will be integrated with other routes we have the following routes in sim already it can run on Glasgow to Edinburgh via Falkirk Stirling/Alloa/Dunblane Lines (coming) Carstairs Line North Berwick Line Cumbernauld Line Glasgow Central to Lanark Edinburgh Waverley to Dunbar Only lines we dont have in sim that it wont function on are the inverclyde lines, and Cathcart lines. i am sure the many scenario makers will be making scenarios already they can swap the stock with and have them released in no time at all
What we don’t know is whether the routes would have to be edited to have the new features showing if you are late and such. Obviously the train can run without that feature. I wish we had the Cumbernauld Line, too. Cumbernauld to Glasgow via Springburn would have been nice with Airdrie. Cathcart Lines are on the Suburban Glasgow merge. Inverclyde is coming with Ayr, no? That is on ATS.
your answering your own questions your asking, Inverclyde is the area that covers Ayr, Largs, Gourouch, Weymss bay ande Adrosan which you know already as you have brought the subject up previously here and elsewhere. If you read the manual you will know about the 385 features you mention also.
Copying and pasting a comment I made on Youtube as it still reflects my thoughts on this. I'm kind of torn on this one honestly. On one hand, more Scotttish content with the REFURBISHED Queen Street station. Immediately right up my alley. But on the other, Glasgow to Alloa/Dunblane? Really? Would have made more sense to do the updated Edinburgh-Glasgow with the 385, especially since the updated Waverley and Haymarket models are already in the game from the Fife Circle line. I know, I know. The modern EDB-GLQ is in TSW, but TSW is far too restricting and the routes feel a bit empty. Oh well, I'll probably just wait for a sale before picking this up then. 30 quid is just too expensive in my eyes.
I think it's this route because it's basically Alan's local route (i mean i think that's the reason, and he is only one man really and does a lot of stuff by himself )
Some of the parts he mentioned about the train sound very interesting. Hope it works as well as they say. I just hope it sounds good.
Well having just watched the pre recorded live stream of this I'm pretty disappointed, the main motivation for me was the train and yet again we have a train with awful sounds which cant be enhanced by the likes of AP because of the eula. Text to speech announcements aren't great either, hopefully this can be addressed, I like the ideas behind it but its not particularly well done I don't think. Some great attention to detail on the route but the train is seriously lacking.
Sorry to be dumb what do you mean they cannot enhance them? If it sounds awful it ruins the entire route just how the 323 on cross city
Because Thomson interactive had a eula in place that prohibits any other developer making enhancements etc and charging for them. Freeware would be fine but payware no no
That is stupid isn't it? Why would they do that if anything it would help sell the route as you need the original to get an enhanced pack.
Do you have a link to that video - I would like to hear the train before making a decision on if I should buy the route.
Not stupid no that’s the choice they have made and it’s down tj them. At the end of the day it is them who create the route and stock etc so why shouldn’t they be allowed to do with assets they own.
Firstly, thanks for the link and secondly, I'm still really torn on this one. I can absoutely tell that a lot of love and care has gone into this route. The route itself looks incredible, George Square just blew me away with the accuracy. Still annoyed at the lack of detail around the buffers at queen street though... The main issues I have with this add on seem to be the sounds. What might surprise most people in this thread is that I don't think the train sounds are fundamentally bad. It still sounds like a class 385 at it's core. My issue is how many older sounds they used instead of newer up to date ones. The flange squeal, running sounds, track joints and brake squeal are all taken from the old Pendolino from the 2010's! I also don't like how they used text to speech for the announcements. I get what they were going for but it just doesn't sound right to me. Also, why no guard buzzer? Unless I'm just deaf and missed it or it just wasn't shown off in the video? I don't know about this one honestly. I'm either going to wait for a sale or wait for a sound patch for the 385 to come out.
I understand that but if someone wants to make it better I do not see why it matters as such, I could understand if they are duplicating it and sold it themselves so they make no money then. I would agree but if you still have to buy the original product it is not like they are losing out? If anything could cost them sales
It's just an archaic bloody minded decision that he/they obviously have no intention of changing even though they are pretty much the only developer adopting this strict of an eula, but there's plenty that'll defend such a ridiculous decision, at the end of the day its at the detriment of their own sales too, so nice own goal standards..
Of course I bought it! I have now added to my web site: https://sites.google.com/view/trainsimulatorcontent/uk-routes/glasgow-dunblane Work in progress
Glad I am not the only one who thinks like this. The sound in the game is everything to me, one I had an AP pack it changed the game overnight for me. It is the one reason I did not like tsw at first, the sounds were awful (don't get me started on rivets 150) but now they are using AP sounds the game is so much better.
All Aboard had the same rules and it didn't help. Is it only commercial with Thomson? I am of two minds about this offering. I absolutely support releasing an updated E-G with electrification and better scenery. It looks pretty at first glance, the promo picture is similar to stuff I shared fondly. On the flip side, it is fairly short, lacks train variety. And for me personally, route 100+ with essentially the same scenery feel (UK). In any event, nothing wrong about playing a bit of discriminatory monopolist, and seems a fine enough item to offer in "TSC 2024" if and when they feel the current pack should be replaced. (Even though it's 3rd party, so not trivial to arrange that. Especially the 1€ version.)
Much negativity again over a new release. Welcome to the ‘Glass half empty’ forum. Having purchased this pack I have found it to be well executed. Regarding whether an author should make their IP free for all. That is their prerogative. Thank you DTG for all of your hard work bringing product to this app. Respectfully
I also don't think the Class 385 sounds are bad - it is how I expect the unit to sound. But I doubt they have used sounds from the Pendolino as they did not make that model. It would be interesting to know what the real announcements are to compare. There is a button for a Bell shown in the manual but I have no idea if the trains run with some form of DOO? There is nothing in the manual about switching between Driver and Guard control.
Alan Thomson built the route and Thomson Interactive released the route - DTG are just the publishers
Yes I agree that Thompson own the IP. My comments are regarding the work DTG do in sustaining the overall effort in working with 3rd party suppliers and providing new content. There is a lot of work involved in planning, marketing and validation. I wanted to commend DTG for all of their hard work supporting the longevity of the TSC product. Respectfully
I'm fairly certain the old sounds are from the S9BL Class 390, the classic iteration of the Portsmouth line uses them too for the 450. I know for a fact that Thomson first started using the older sounds for their 350 in the WCMLTV. I noticed the guard buzzer in the manual too, but from the videos and streams I've watched about the route I've noticed a lack of a 'buzz buzz' from the guard to tell you the doors are closed. I know that 385s CAN run DOO, but I'm fairly certain they run with guards most of the time. Every time I've been on a 385, there's been a guard buzzing the driver when the doors close.
Just to be clear for other users, this is a different Alan Thomson than the one behind ATS as far as I'm aware.
Being a recent design the prototype must have but the model doesn't seem to have one and looking through the input mapper I can see no key defined associated with a vigilance device.
