There are quite a few routes and other content being developed by Rivet games for TSW4 l sincerely hope they will produce better efforts than they have produced with West Cornwall local. There has been a lot of comments from me and others about the poorness in design and quality of WCL, that I would have hoped that they would addressed the many concerns before they release new content. I just wish they would listen as WCL could have been so very good. Anyway I am hoping their new offerings are up to the standards of the other developers and they meet the expectations of the TSW4 public.
The biggest problem for me with Rivet's work, and I don't say this in a negative way, I say this as a constructive criticism but it is like they get the idea, they get it all down on paper, figure it all out and then, at the very last minute, they remember something and botch it With the WCL, it was the overall poorness With the ZentralSchweiz, it was the lighting I believe the same problem befell the two Scottish routes as well There was a massive problem with the Arosa but cannot remember what that was off of the top of my head Look, the potential for a good route is there, I think we all agree they just have to make sure and take their time to get it right because, I don't remember if it was Matt or someone else before they were due to release WCL but they turned around and said if it's not good enough for us, it's not good enough for you and I think that needs to be drilled into the devs at Rivet and it should be one chance to get it right. If it's not right, don't use Rivet again because they have had chance after chance to get it right and somehow didn't But, I am open to giving Rivet a chance with their first route on the new engine with TSW4 to see if they can turn it around
i hope one of the uk routes listed is a modern (and long) northern route, since we only have 1 which was released for tsw3 and it was really short (glossop line)
Well if you think about it, Just Trains have taken care of that first part with the Blackpool-Preston-Ormskirk route (the Northern route part that is) but for myself, I think the likelihood is that they will either go Scottish OR perhaps go Swiss again
one of the routes is listed as a swiss route in 1-3 months, so we know that one will be swiss as for scottland, i hope they dont since we already have 2 pretty decent scottish routes
So let's attribute the Swiss route to Rivet as they have done the only two Swiss routes to date I think I could politely and respectfully disagree with not wanting another Scottish route because there are still plenty of lines for the offering; West Highland Line, Inverness to Oban and the common theme with their routes is they don't use the same stations twice per se so for the Cathcart, they used Glasgow Central. For Scottish Express, tey used Queen Street and Waverley so if a new route does come, they'll use another of the original seven cities so Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness, Stirling or Perth in some respect
WHAAAT???! (No offense) THE WEST HIGHLAND LINE RUNS FROM GLASGOW QUEEN STREET TO OBAN AND MALLAIG NOT INVERNESS TO OBAN! THAT'S THE OTHER CORNER OF THE COUNTRY! (Scotland)
Yea. I hope so. Kyle of Lochalah line is very nice. You could do Inverness to Perth/Glasgow highland mainline which is pretty nice as well and could have Azumas layer on.
I'd love to see west highland line from Glasgow to Oban! I'd love it modern with my fav sprinters! I don't care what people say, the line is still Beautiful and class 156's are absolute beasts to drive
Yeah, that was me not paying attention there I am a dumb you know what for getting that wrong and I admit that
But yeah, West Highland Line is a possibility, Inverness-KOL is a possibility, don't be surprised if they do a Perth-Aberdeen via Dundee, Fife Circle could be a possibility
Hopefully not another northern route, the idea that in tsw the uk is dominated by routes in the south is a myth and there’s actually more northern routes
I just hope they can get the sounds correct, I was so happy to drive the 150 but it sounds awful I hardly ever use it, even though on classic it is proberbly the engine I drive most.
I'd love any highland route! Especially the west highland line but they have to nail the scenary and sounds and they MUST include smart pis. Announcements would be nice. For most highland routes we will need RETB token system as a feature. It will be interesting to see how rivet implement this. One of the gameplay packs could be a class 158 and HST gameplay scotrail livery pack with an extension to Alloa and Dumblane via Stirling and Falkirk Grahmston. Azumas could layer on nicely between Stirling and Edinburgh calling at Stirling, Falkirk Grahmston, Haymarket and Edinburgh Waverly.
not really, you cant consider mml and bcc northern since they are in the midlands with seperate operators and trains, i meant Northern and Transpenine express when i was talking about a modern northern route
I honestly don't think like be buying a rivet route unless its much better quality so will look to community feedback on that one. Might be swayed by a loco/gameplay pack depending on what it is though. Again depending on community feedback. Got west cornwall on a sale on xbox a while ago. Took out the 150 for the tutorial and haven't touched it since lol. although will have to reinstall it on TSW4 purely for the wagon layers into JT route
I only have one "question" to rivet: Can we have the drivers back? Rivet trains have no visible driver in the chair since luzern - sursee. Probably nobody noticed at their office. (And dont forget the flange sounds this time )
Must admit even if it was a Highland or West Highland route I would think twice given Rivet's reputation. I still haven't got round to buying Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen Street, partly because the modern era doesn't interest me but also due to the ongoing issues. WCL really did break the camel's back on their stuff and as noted despite assurances from their head honcho, the 150/2 never did get fettled. If they did produce a Scottish route with a 156, they'd probably copy and paste over Simugraph physics and sound with the same awful results. So unless it was loco hauled, layering in the existing Class 37 retasked to a 37/0 with steam heat or a 37/4 with ETH I would be very sceptical.
Nothing against Rivet, but I probably won't be picking up their new routes after the mess that is the Edinburgh to Glasgow Route. Sounds harsh, I know. But the EDB-GLQ route is a route I'm very familiar with IRL and in TSC. I'm honestly still frustrated at the amount of issues with the route as it's so close to being a decent one. (Missing OHLE is still present, Brake application in Neutral Sections and the weird lights at tunnel entrances just to name a few issues). I would be more forgiving if the route was patched and in a better state than it is, but I'm not holding my breath on that patch coming any time soon.
For me Rivet always did great work. Especially on the Swiss routes where they tried to implement and respect many features people wanted (e.g. added functionality of the luggage car doors on Arosa after someone asked for that). The only problem is: They always left routes only 90-95% finished. For example: Luzern Sursee with its ETCS. Works fantastic in the direction Luzern-Sursee but is not working the other way around because of two problems after Rothenburg. These issues were way more common as the route released and most of them were fixed, but two remain and haven’t been fixed making ETCS un useable sometimes. And then there is the lighting: Completely foggy and cloudy and still the sun comes through and pitch black at night. I don’t want to just criticise Rivet because their routes are some of my favourites and I love Luzern-Sursee and espec the flirt! But issues like the ones i mentioned and missing basic features like a working Sifa on the Swiss routes is just the missing cherry on top of a perfect route! And the Sifa thing bothers me the most on Arosa! The scenery is not the best but for the first mountainous route it was quite well. But because you only have to set a speed and the train will ride itself makes Arosa a “once in a few months” route for me, because you don’t have to do anything. Including a Sifa for the Ge4/4 II would change that completely! So yeah, in the end I look forward to Rivets new Swiss content- more than to anything else for this game! But if you read this Rivet, then please work with the community like you did the last years and it will be a day one buy for me again- and I promise it will be for many others
