Hey everyone! Rivet Games just posted this teaser image on their social channels. Pretty sure this must be from their upcoming Swiss route. Link to the post: https://x.com/rivetgames/status/1721182593519849836?s=61&t=ts3ke6Q0IdftyT6Gf1lwQA
Mountains finally look like mountains unlike on Arosa Linie, it looks great so far I can’t wait to see the rest.
If you look at the cabview posted in the second post at the indicated timestamp, you will see the scenery is identical to the pic in the OP. So, yes.
It looks like a screenshot from Snowrunner! But seriously looks okay. If it is Bernina hopefully the whole run from St Moritz down to Tirano, not stopping at Poschiavo. Another possibility could be something on the BOB network or maybe even MOB.
What ugly trees, are they straight from the PS3 here? DTG why can't you make normal trees? Like in other games? Part 4 and nothing changes. The mountains are well made, but the local area itself is complete horror. It looks like a game from 2010, if not earlier.
It’s right, the place is right above Alp Grüm in the video above. My guess is that it will be Poschiavo-Pontresina with the Allegra. I just hope they will include working safety systems
Certainly works for me. As noted above, looks fairly certain it is the Bernina Line, fingers crossed it's with the ABe 4/4 II & III railcars and not the Allegra units.
I doubt Rivet will make two trains with the route. Might get a seperate loco add-on later. I do hope there'll be subsitution vice-versa with Arosa. Would add a bit of variety to both routes.
Ge 4/4 II can't run on Bernina. It might stand in as AI in Pontresina or St. Moritz, as we don't have correct trains for that. And Allegras are now the only passenger trains running on Bernina
I’m always up for seeing what’s on offer but definitely sceptical as to conditions from past experiences. impressive mountain though, glad to see it’s not Arosa style edit: I will add though, I do hope to see train setup times get implemented by rivet for their routes.
Right!!! they even not gonna update their local route for the Class 801... As I said in Discord, my hype is reserved for Blackpool!
The screenshot looks very nice, definitely recognisable as Bernina Bahn. But... I'll be leaving this one well alone sadly until others have a chance to test it. Rivets history with TSW is not good regarding fixes and I'm not getting caught out again by some fancy screenshot. I'm quite disappointed as I live in Switzerland and there is nothing I'd like more than a decent Swiss route, but Arosa took over a year for any fixes and still has bad physics and awful sound. Luzern, still has broken services (though at least with Free Roam you can delete the bad service yourself and fix the red light) and the safety systems have never worked correctly. So forgive my pessimism but I don't trust Rivet to do a good job. No doubt some of the static assets will look amazing they are very good at that, but I'm not hopeful for anything that moves or makes a noise.
Idk how to feel about this. Mountains look nice, just looked up the route on yt and the train thats in most of the thumbnails doesn't really peak my interest. But I’ll wait until it's properly announced before I give proper judgment
Mixed feelings. The terrain certainly looks far better than ARL, but I’m not sold on the trees. Hopefully we get an Allegra that can layer onto ARL. I’ll wait until a preview to properly form my opinion.
Yes it's "Rivet" which is still the biggest caveat about the whole thing. Though in fairness I never found Arosa to be too bad in terms of the scenery and the trains were mainly let down by the shonky physics (instant jerky acceleration to the set speed) and of course the shopping cart rolling stock sound. Fingers crossed they have learned from that, but they continue to put out products with flaws (some major, some minor) more so than any of the other associates so unless I can be convinced or there is a stonking pre-order discount, probably not Day One for me either.
Arosa certainly got me hooked on Swiss narrow gauge despite the issues. That being said, I see it similarly to OldVern. When I see the name ‘Rivet’, I know what not to expect. Obviously, I’ll refrain from judging the route before it is even announced, let alone previewed, but unless the preview is really good, it’ll likely be a 50%-off candidate for me.
My biggest concern with Arosa was the scenery and still no plans to purchase because of that to this day, it always seemed to me at least like it was marketed as a scenic route but in the end seemed very empty/wrong on the scenery front (especially the mountains), so far this one is looking like that ain’t an issue so that’s always a good sign, I did like rivets 2022 IOW, has some issues but overall more positive, so hoping it’s a similar case.
Actually I’m the opposite! To me IOW 2022 was the lesser experience. Buggy signalling and the 484 just doesn’t seem right to me. Accelerates like an Electrostar so you rarely need more than Notch 2 or 3 and above 30 MPH sounds more like a DMU.
Each of us knows what to do and each of us will have our own opinion. Me, I like Swiss roads, I have all the Swiss DLCs on TSC and I of course have those from TSW. So yes, no matter if the train has a shopping cart noise, I will take it. If the Arosa had had these mountains I would have been more than happy, even with the hideous mountains I like the Arosa, I play mainly in winter and it does it well. I see the Swiss roads more as a journey than as a "job"... Thanks to Rivet for this new route in Switzerland and I really hope there will be others. It will be D-day for me, the English stuff doesn't interest me, I only take the Swiss and German content. Everyone has their own TSW after all.
Judging by one screenshot, which actually looks fantastic? Why wouldn't you wait until a preview before deciding?
Because all their previous routes have had massive quality issues. A single good bit of scenery doesn't matter that much if the train physics are bad (Class 150), of if the Train Audio is completely terrible (Class 385).
I won't be buying anything of Rivet again unless they improve things like West Cornwall local especially the sound on the 150 which still hasn't been done after nearly 2 years of the route releasing it seems they aren't bothered about improving things this route will probably end up the same to
Same with the Scotrail Express route. The 385 audio is awful, and I'm not even an audophile. It just sounds bad. So I see no reason to buy this considering their track record with quality, and their unwillingness to fix their already released content.
Even I don't like the 385 audio. They should partner with whoever made the sound mod because these sounds are better
Yeah Itsya's 385 audio mod is my most eagerly anticipated mod for TSW4 currently. The route is unusable without it.
Was really hoping to see another standard gauge Swiss route instead of narrow gauge again. It's a shame because there could be some really interesting and busy/scenic Swiss routes with tons of variety and long-term gameplay; for example something with Geneva Cornavin is a good example as you could of had long-distance services with the IC2000 and/or ICN tilting train, then reuse existing content such as the RABe523, then have the TGV Duplex and so on... To me, this is more interesting than what seems another single track route in the mountains. All pictures taken by me
I won't buy anything from Rivet again unless I have read moving videos with(!) sound and reviews and they are positive. The Class 385 in particular is an absolute "immersion killer" - even if the route is otherwise good - with the terrible sound that still hasn't been audibly improved. I'm not hyped, I'll just wait and see (and hear).
Absolutely, it's super-frustrating when considering the LAMP process too. On the subject of variety, more standard-gauge Swiss routes also means potentially having more TOCs from other countries too such as SNCF, OBB, DB and so on to complement SBB; Vorarlberg was quite a good example of variety. I totally understand those who like narrow-gauge routes, but I feel TSW should have much, much more to offer now we're at TSW 4; I mean, even newer routes that use more existing rolling stock in TSW would be nice, such as the TGV Duplex for example. Picture taken by me
That's an interesting point, never thought of that actually - but I'd of hoped this would/should be standard practice for route selection whether DTG or third-party regardless. From just seeing that picture of stunning scenery and high-speed train is such an awesome combination, now that's a route that looks much more interesting and certainly unique compared to what's already been in TSW.
There will probably have to be another 3rd party to speed up the process. Rivet are the only ones who make swiss content. So it's either narrow gauge or mainline content but both have to be accounted for.
