An idea for a route local to me and at a time when I was a young boy (fond memories). Some of the facts below may not be 100%, so apologies for any inaccuracies. I think this would be a great route to bring to Train Sim World 2.

    Route

The route is the Airedale Line within North and West Yorkshire covering passenger lines from Leeds to Skipton and the Leeds to Bradford Forster Square branch line. For freight services, the route also covers the old Skipton to Grassington line (known as the Yorkshire Dales Railway) from the Skipton passenger station to Swinden Quarry.

    Year & Summary

The proposed year for the route is 1994 when the route became electrified via overhead electrification. At this time, ageing BR Class 308 EMUs were assigned to the route as no new electric trains had been ordered. In this year, a mixture of BR Class 308s, BR Class 144s and BR Class 142s operated passenger services on these routes before they were operated entirely by the 308s until they were withdrawn in 2001.

    Passenger Locomotives
    • BR Class 308 EMU (red & cream Metro Trains livery)
    • BR Class 144 DMU (red & cream Metro Trains livery)
    • BR Class 142 DMU (original British Rail provincial two-tone blue livery)

    Freight Locomotives
    • BR Class 60 (Railfreight three-tone grey with sector symbol)
    • BR Class 37 (Railfreight three-tone grey with sector symbol)

Passenger Stations - Leeds to Skipton Line

    • Leeds
    • Shipley
    • Saltaire
    • Bingley
    • Crossflatts
    • Keighley
    • Steeton & Silsden
    • Cononley
    • Skipton

Passenger Stations - Leeds to Bradford Forster Square

    • Leeds
    • Shipley
    • Frizinghall
    • Bradford Forster Square

Got to love the old red WYPTE Metro livery. I attempted to recreate the livery using a class 375.

Sure. Some pictures of the proposed passenger locos in the suggested liveries.

This would be a great route, either modern or, as you suggested, in 1994. Would it be too much to add the Ilkley line as well? I think it would be a small but great addition to an already great suggestion!

tbh, it would be better in present day because all the northern england routes are from the 1970s/1980s so it will be nice to have modern trains running on it

I'd love to see a 333, but the 90s stock the jmveee suggested looks really good. I'd be happy with either, either way it's a bit more modern. Anyone know what replaced the 308s on this line?

The WY class 308s were replaced by Class 333s around 2000 I think

Perhaps if the route is set in 2001, we can have the class 333 as a DLC which subs in for 308s (maybe you can see more of them depending on the time of year, eg, January 2001 you'd only have one or two but by December you'll mostly see 333s rather than 308s). Could be interesting?
