Well where now 3 and 0/0 in steam traction with the UK ahead by 3 so how many years before a steam loco from a new country?

A pointless thread and pointless poll buy I'll respond anyway.

SOS was chosen to be the first route to feature steam, because the UK is the home of the Steam Train, it's on a fairly iconic stretch of track in what is the Birthplace of Railways (N. England)

However, SOS didn't quite go to plan and it left a lot to be desired, particularly with physics and bugs, and this worsened with the TSW3 version.

So, naturally, attempt #2 had to build on this (and, specifically, the Steam physics improvements) to create a good experience. So, rather than build all new locos from total scratch, it made sense to reuse the 8F and Jubilee alongside one new loco, as well as wagons and such.

A German or American (or even other) Steam route will come. There's no point guessing when, but it will come.

Yea maybe so but just how many UK steam locos will DTG have to create before there convince there ready to do one for another country.I'm hoping no more then 10,which could take a few more years at best.

Pure guesswork but I will go for maybe next year and I suspect it will be something for Germany rather than North America.

For Germany we now get routes for the nineties, so going back to the sixties may take a while. For the US we already have Clinchfield as the most retro route, but I do not now till when steam was used in the US.

For the US, the iconic steam locomotives like the big boy or challenger are extremely complex and large compared to uk ones and probably wouldn't run well in the current steam simulation. So dtg are doing a step by step so steam can be in a better state.

There are any number of simpler (and more common) US locos available. 2-8-0 Consolidations and 2-8-2 Mikados could be found everywhere there was a pair of rails.

I agree and why not make that 1990s route set in the GDR since the GDR Deutsche Reichsbahn continued to use steam locomotives into the 1990s including the formation of Deutsche Bahn? Code wise 3.GABFG-R6 xx. This is considering that a Main Line of the Former East Germany Reichsbahn has Steam AC Electric Diesel Electric followed by Diesel Mechanical DR BR171/172 the East German version of a NiddertalBahn DB BR795-798 and lastly the Diesel Hydraulic DR BR175 High Speed Diesel train which equals the Linke Rheinstrecke TEE DB BR601
