Hello!
I'm rather new to this forum and Train Simulator.
I have dowloaded West Somerset Railway on Train Simulator from Steam.
Does anyone know if this is a cut down version of TS2018, as the Dovetail website states that TS2014 is not required to run this program. Yet my download says it's TS2018. Can I add loco's as I wish or do I need specific routes for them?

You have TS2018. Effectively you bought a single route edition of TS and, as is usually the case, you've been updated to the latest version of the software. The store page for the WSR mentions TS2014 because that was the current edition when the route came out.

Yep. If you’ve got the core program TS2018 you can add any route available for that
