"New" more like not yet, since I haven't bought it yet. I am a TSW5 player, but the lack of long routes and the lack of routes in general makes me want to try TSC out. I have a few questions: 1. There's no timetable. How many scenarios are there typically? 2. What's the keybinds, are they similar to TSW5? And how do you even play? Is there a youtube tutorial? 3. Without scenary packs is the scenary rubbish? 4. Does it get repetitive after playing all scenarios (assuming that there are less that 20 scenarios, typically). 5. Are scenario packs worth it? Now, route specific: Is WCML North worth it? Because I do like that section! If you watched the Ambassadorial Journey from Penzance to Inverness, does the base route look like it appeared in the Leg 12 video? And the Class 90? Once again, thanks alot!
I would suggest trying the subscription model of the game. Currently £8.99 for a month. Well worth it for a “try before you buy” and you can judge for yourself. If you thendecide to purchase the game, There are many many sales on Steam, so don’t pay full price. Hopefully a Steam sale will be along soon and can add the DLC / Traction of your specific interest at a knock down price! WCML North being one of the older DLC is normally pretty heavily discounted. Good luck with your TSC journey should you decide, you won’t look back!
Thanks! Is WCML still good? And what are other DLC you suggest? I saw that the 86 is rubbish, is that too bad? About the scenario issue, is it a big issue? Or can you play it like TSW?
You can play Quickdrive on most routes. It is similar to timetable. I have approx 8500 scenarios loaded. Full ECML is about 400 miles. Penzance to London about 300. Some large routes in Austria from RSSLO (combo routes).
The WCML North is quite old - it was released in 2011 - and routes don't get updated. I have no idea whey you think the Class 86 is rubbish? It is a very good loco and unlike a Diesel engine you have to drive to properly. Maybe the person describing it had no idea on how to drive it. Unlike TSW you are not restricted to the few scenarios that come with a route Each of the trains that you get can be used on most routes The Class 86 Liverpool St on GEML On London to Peterborough 2 86/6 on WCML - South Peter
I meant that the 86 in-game looks rubbish, I know how to drive it. In your opinion, is WCMLN still good? Yes, it's old but is it good?
There are various upgrades available to the simulator to enhance visuals. ATS has an option to drive from Glasgow to Preston (merge route). https://alanthomsonsim.com/download...st-and-scotland-preston-to-glasgow-edinburgh/ You can run the full WCML in 3 sittings (ATS). I suspect they may provide a full merge at some future date. Their ‘Missing Link’ is currently at Phase 4 https://alanthomsonsim.com/product/west-coast-mainline-midlands-and-northwest-aka-missing-link/ Armstrong Powerhouse Weather is a great addition to UK routes. It makes the simulator experience more vivid.
Hello lacky#9009 (presume you are the same person as Lacky) Welcome to the wonderful train simulation experience you have before you in TSC. In answer to your questions: 1. There's no timetable. How many scenarios are there typically? Typically 5-10. However TSC comes bundled with a scenario creation tool, so you can make your own. There are also thousands of freeware and commercial 3rd party scenarios available. The Steam Workshop has hundreds of free ones. 2. What's the keybinds, are they similar to TSW5? And how do you even play? Is there a Youtube tutorial? There is some commonality, but rather more differences. You play with the keyboard assisted by the mouse, but most trains are fully drivable from the keyboard. DTG provide the 'Academy' a training area with mini scenarios to learn basic and intermediate controls of the various loco types. There are lots of Youtube videos as well by the community. 3. Without scenary packs is the scenary rubbish? No. The scenery of DLC produced in the last 7 years or so is generally good. Some is exceptional; e.g. Konstanz-Villingen, Im Köblitzer Bergland, and Wherry Lines. Older routes are more variable, but some still stand up well. Note the art style of TSC is different from TSW. In TSC things are less shiny, often grubbier and lighting is less Hollywood like. 4. Does it get repetitive after playing all scenarios (assuming that there are less that 20 scenarios, typically). See my comments about sources of other scenarios. Although there's a learning curve, you can modify existing scenarios to change time of day and season easily, which extends interest. One of the strengths of TSC is that you can run anything you own anywhere you own, without restrictions on period or gauge. The only restriction is that electric traction can't run on non-electrified track, though you can still drag it with other locos. 5. Are scenario packs worth it? Generally, yes. But wait for Steam sales. WCML North is a good route, but being an old one it doesn't make use of newer functionality like track superelevation.
Just decided to have a short blast down the WCML North using a Trans Penine 802. This is one of the default scenarios, that I updated with modern traction using TS Tools. MOD being used: TOBI head tracking AP Weather / Cloud / Track / Signal Enhancements AP Class 800 mod RWE2 for Shaders and HUD TS Controllers Power Brake Handle for controls
I'm used to the shiny ultra settings of TSW, and the 86 interior looks weird, rather different than the 87 interior in Over Shap
Alright thanks. Are there tutorials for these tools for changing scenarios? And btw what is track superelevation? Regardless, thanks for the answer (Yes, I am the same person. This is my phone account, and the other lacky is my pc account, and I am too lazy to change that).
There are tutorials on YouTube for using the scenario editor. Superelevation (also known as banking or cant) is the inward tilt that tracks and roads have on higher speed curves.
The Class 86 as originally released is looking old now - it came out at the same time as WCML North in 2011 However the AP Class 86 EP make all the difference but the real locos are now 60 years old https://www.armstrongpowerhouse.com/enhancements/locomotive/class_86_enhancement_pack And the AP 87 knock the spots of the DTG version https://www.armstrongpowerhouse.com/rolling_stock/locomotive2/class_87_locomotive_pack
