My hope is for another route in the 1990s era - it's an era I'm fond of, and one that TSG have represented very well before. It'd be good to see more use for the stock in those liveries, and to broaden the range too. Therefore I'd suggest a route served by Interregio, a popular type of semi-fast service, that ran from the late 80s to about 2000. IR trains had a really nice blue livery, of a similar style to the IC and n-Wagen coaches you see in routes of this era. There were broadly 5 coach types: Aimz (first), ARKimbz (bistro), Bimz (second), Bimdz (second with cycle space), and Bimdzf (cab car). After the decline of Interregio, all but the Aimz were repurposed into IC coaches, most notably the Bistro Cafe, which was used until last year, and which for me is the biggest miss in the IC train formations. IR trains ran on Intercity routes, stopping about twice as much, but also served secondary, very scenic lines. Two options stand out in particular, the Moseltalbahn (Koblenz to Trier), which follows the sweeping Moselle river (pictured here in the present day) Or there's the Offenburg to Konstanz Schwarzwaldbahn, which twists through the Black Forest, with multiple loops and switchbacks (also pictured more recently). Each route had an IR service every 2hr, plus an hourly regional service, plus freight (the Mosel probably has more of the latter). IR trains were run by various different types of loco, including the 103, 111, and later the 101. For this I'd suggest a new loco - the multivoltage 181 would fit the Moselle route, or the 120 for either. For the local services, perhaps a repainted 111 with the n-Wagen we already have (but can we get an ABn please!), and/or perhaps a repainted 155 for freight. The stock from Rechte Rheinstrecke and Niddertalbahn could be layered in, and all this could be layered back. Obviously this is just my hope, for a route already way in development, but if it's neither of these, it'd be nice to see them someday.
Personally I hope it’s a diesel main or secondary line to take full advantage of the 218 and 628. Either Obereruhrtalbahn or something around Kempten. We need a route that isn’t another medium length interurban electrified run through level terrain.
I'm certainly hoping for more vintage content. As far as the route choice goes, Niddertalbahn was obviously a route smaller in scale but with lots of detail and really delivering on that mostly bygone charm of branch lines. I would not be surprised if their next route follows a similar trend and leaves the big mainlines to DTG et al. I could see a route delivering for the 218 as OldVern suggests, but I struggle to see the logistics for it. If the 218 is the main attraction, it surely won't be simply layered on but will be included with the route. Repackaging a loco-DLC in a route so shortly after the loco-DLC's release also seems unorthodox. Maybe if it's specifically a backdated 218 for a vintage route? Or maybe even a 216, 217 (that seems like a lot of work for little gain though)? This is always an interesting shout-out. The route is beautiful - similar to the Rheinstrecke (LFR) but with its own, unique charm. Lots of interesting traffic, too (though we'd still be missing a proper freight loco if vintage). The problem I see with the 181 is her uniqueness. Unlike most of the other German rolling stock, you wouldn't really see them much outside of this route so the reusability on other routes is very limited (compare that to how much use they've gotten out of the 628 already). I'd love to see her though.
Good point, though in TSW terms the 218 has been out a little while now so is probably ticking over on sales numbers. You could always make the 628 the included train (not sure if 612’s operate on the Obereruhrtalbahn or around Kempten) with the 218 layering in for those who own it.
The 181 could also be seen on the Pfalzische Ludwigsbahn, as they used to run Frankfurt to Paris services, and if there's ever a route around Stuttgart - Karlsruhe - Strasbourg, for Munich to Paris trains.
True. It is an advantage of getting more of the routes around the Saaland that a niche loco like the 181 becomes more feasible. Since I'm from the region, I'd absolutely love to see it (both the route and the loco).
Anything that includes Hamburg Hbf. Anything that includes Kiel Hbf. Anything that includes Stadler Flirt 3. Routes i would instand buy/preorder: Hamburg -Neumünster/Kiel Hamburg Bremen (unlikely to happen) Bäderbahn (Lübeck-Puttgarden/Neustadt) Otherwise im always a fan of 1 or 2 track routes.
The green eyeshade perspective is that a re-usable loco is desirable, in that DTG has to pay TSG when it uses one of theirs. Ergo, I would suggest a 140, the absolute do-everything jack of all work loco of the Bundesbahn era. You pretty much can't do an electrified line from the 1950s through the 90s and not have them.
I really like speculations like this, but im questioning now is not what we get, its when it will be announced. Hopefully we will know more in November.
Oh, yes, absolutely. Don’t think I need to reiterate my love for the 140. And she would be a serious gap filler - throw her on LFR to finally enjoy freight on it, maybe an AI layer on NID, chuck in a traffic red (or PRESS, …) version and she can also sub in on pretty much all newer routes, even if traffic red ones will push the limits a bit on the post 2016 routes.
but it was with corail (french coaches) Vtu ** and B** for the most of services but corail i say yes i will see Corail coaches in TSW *..
Some used DB coaches though, and one even OEBB coaches. I do hope we see a French classic route at some point, with Corail and nez-Casse locos
Of course another route set in the 90s/Produktfarben era would be my favored option, but I have a certain theory. With pilot21 working on that route before apparently being contracted as third/second party dev (and possibly already being involved with Frankfurt - Fulda) and Lukas stating during his Gamescom interview that the BR 420 is coming to Frankfurt, but not explicitly Frankfurt - Fulda, I think that there's a small chance we might be looking at Frankfurt - Friedberg as their next route. It has some overlap with Niddertalbahn at Bad Vilbel and it would certainly be a much better route for the 420 to stretch its legs on than the rather short section to Hanau. Could even be set it the 90s, considering it appears in the layer manager for Niddertalbahn and Linke Rheinstrecke. Just a bit of speculation.
There was a bit of a discussion on the next TSG route on Discord. Lukas has said very clearly that they have not done anything with Frankfurt
Oh well, so much for that theory. Anything around Karlsruhe would defnitiely be my first choice as well. I guess one can dream.
You can find this postbox on Niddertalbahn hidden in the forest Was quite some speculation back then when it was first discovered
If you're on PC, there is a wonderful mod which gives the IR trains on LFR actual blue-stripe IR coaches (obviously they're reskins of the IC carriages, you can't build genuine IRs, but certainly when driving past they look great).
Okay so BaWü obviously means Baden-Württemberg. My personal dream would be Basel - Karlsruhe, but that's not really TSGs style. Judging by OpenRailwayMap there are a ton of branch lines in that area but I don't know enough about the area to point at any specific one that could potentially be it. What do y'all reckon it might be?
Yeah that's my fear as well. Karlsruhe - Offenburg is approximately 70 km, so that would be possible. But again, probably not something TSG would develop.
Personally, a scenic route like Murgtalbahn (Rastatt - Freudenstadt, or just start from Gaggenau) would be more fitting for a TSG product, I could see DTG doing KA-OG though as in TSC.
Well, I'll personally keep hoping to one day see my beloved Murgtalbahn, even though I know it'll never happen.
Until then, it's playable on MSTS/OpenRails (KA-FDS), or on freeware Loksim3D (Gernsbach-Schönmünzach)...
Sadly I'm not on PC, so I miss out on many great mods. The Flixtrain coaches are the same body as IR coaches, so that would be a start for any developer.
Yep, still have that one on disk somewhere. Played it on OpenRails a few years back and although it was some nice nostalgia it hasn't aged quite as gracefully as I would've liked. The build quality of the trains in the ProTrain add-ons was never all that great to begin with in my opinion and I've encountered a lot more trees standing in the middle of the tracks than I remembered there being. That coupled with the lack of stuff like PZB... I guess I'm just a bit too spoiled nowadays. Definitely need to try the Loksim3D version at some point, though.
Trees in the middle of tracks are an OpenRails thing. As MS never released the source code, it's reverse engineered code (basically you are coding a programme that tries to behave like the prototype without actually knowing how it was done. Forest trees are generated based on an algorithm which hasn't been 100% replicated, they are not manually placed.) You can add a simple file to remove the trees. Create a folder "OpenRails" in the path and put in this file. Note, the initial empty line is mandatory!
I hope as well it is a Diesel route, and would make kind of sense as we have the DB BR 218 and DB BR 628 from TSG. Ideally a section of the last mainline diesel route Ulm–Friedrichshafe, as only was electrified recently in 2018. As loco (if we are getting one), DB BR 232 was in the pipeline of the TSG, so could be that one. If loco is the DB BR 420, then I would bet for the connection between Bad Vibel and Frankfurt Hbf, this could come with layers for the DB BR 218 in Niedertalbahn. Anyway whatever comes from TSG likely will be one day purchase for me. Looking forward for it!
I was thinking the same thing... I think it will be this. Though it could Frankfurt-Friedberg AND some other route by TSG. PS: can´t have a thread without someone randomly bringing up US freight...
DTG managed it with LFR! Another route which could do with some DLC yet seems to have been forgotten about. Whatever the TSG route is, and I hope it is from a similar period to Niddertalbahn, it will be excellent.
It's gonna be a German route, so not really sure why you're blabbing about US stuff here. The route will NOT be Frankfurt, as has been confirmed by a dev. It must be somewhere in Baden-Württemberg
Well, BaWü would be amazing! Still hoping for Basel-Freiburg; one of the best routes in TSC!! But my personal guesses are: Höllentalbahn or Hochrheinbahn (Basel-Waldshut) Later one is a Diesel mainline, from the busy hub of Basel where ICE, freight and RE services arrive, the line runs along the Rhine towards Waldshut-Tiengen with a lot of scenic sections! Nowadays, on this line you can see: - Br612 in yellow/white Bwegt livery - Br245 with Dostos (not developed yet) - Br218 with Dostos - Br 641 (not developed yet) - Diesel Talent 1 (not developed yet) A few years back the 218 even used N-Wagen there! This route would truly be amazing as it will get a major upgrade in the following years when it gets electrified and SBB GmbH runs it
I confirm that the SNCF will never give access to the corals, even if it would be great. However, with their virtual disappearance in France, maybe one day!
Another epic route within BaWü would be the Geislinger Steige (Stuttgat - Ulm). Also not really TSGs cup of tea, but I would like to see it in game sometime. They still use Schiebeloks on the section (as depicted in TSWs rendition of Main-Spessart Bahn) so that would lead to a very interesting service pattern.
