If you look in the layer list for that route, you will see the Norfolk-Southern freight layer. On the other side, you explained us, that this route is so memory extensive, that there are no freight possible on that route.

That's why my question is which purpose has this layer in the layer list of that route?

Perhaps the answer is, that you prepare a rework of that route with freight stuff.

Sometimes dreams have to be allowed.

Perhaps for static stock? I've not explored NYT much so I dunno if there's a yard a loco or wagons could go

I checked that all. No static freight stuff in yards. The only static stuff in the yards is passenger stuff from Amtrak or NJT.

Wasn’t freight planned and after testing they scrapped the freight timetables because of memory issues ? Maybe that’s the leftovers and that’s why it shows up.

New York - Trenton is really lacking traffic and life in general on the route (ALP-45 DP, Arrow III would really liven up the route) - I've loved this route since the old TS times)

Maybe in 2025 there will be some kind of addition or NJCL or Morristown Lines...

I’m not sure if it applies to other platforms, but for my Series S, the route when originally released had no freight. Then they did an update adding a lot of static freight plus some big through freights coming on and off the route portals. There was a single timetable activity using a Norfolk Southern GP38-2 to switch freightcars in and around the sidings at the Jersey Avenue station. It was short and simple but I found it fun nonetheless. Unfortunately, in a later update DTG removed ALL freight from the route. That’s where it stands today, on my Xbox S anyways. My son, who plays TSW on his Xbox X reports he doesn’t have any freight either.

Yes we were looking forward to freight layers on NYT right up until the last minute. I think I recall that Joethefish had put them in only to see them withdrawn.

Freight is the key element that's missing from the route. Let's hope it's rectified at some point.

Its been awhile since I played them but I think the NYT scenarios still have NS rolling stock parked around the route, maybe thats where the layer takes effect?

If you have, at a minimum, SPG, there is some AI freight in at least one of the scenarios. This is similar to how AI freight was added in for one of the Acela scenarios in BPE.

I fondly remember the stealth appearance of the freight layer on Series S. I think SPG activated it and I know CJP layered on as well. Perhaps HSC activated the layer also? The nice part was that all the custom wagon liveries from SPG would appear as well. In any case, somehow this freight layer was able to exist, even on my lowly Series S, and I was able to drive all of the usual services and not have constant crashes (unless I spawned at Sunnyside, which was always a mess on Series S anyways). It was just as stable then, as it is now that the freight layer has been removed. However, I do have to be honest that the one driveable service and the very modest static stock did not do a huge amount for the route as a whole. Although it is true that the appearance of this layer, on Series S of all places, did rather expose DTG for their claim that freight layers for NYT just were not possible.
