I'm French and extremely alone in this world of TSW, but I wonder the following: We know that SNCF does not give licenses to DTG, but what obliges DTG to comply with licenses (the law?), and after the acquisition of Focus from DTG, do we have a chance of having one day a second French itinerary?
“But what obliges DTG to comply with licences (the law?)” Well, the laws ! Having Focus as the owner of DTG doesn’t mean we’ll have more chance of having a French route. They just wait for their investment back that’s all, maybe we’ll have another route and it might be the one currently available on TSC: Strasbourg to Karlsruhe. Who knows. And why the SNCF don’t give licence anymore ? I have no clue, it might be because of the recent increase of train surfing and jaywalking around train premises.
Wasn’t aware SNCF were going down the road of no more licensing. Leaving the high speed routes to one sides, there are loads of classic French routes that would be great in TSW, running along the Riviera for one. It will be a shame if these never see the light of day in the game.
Straßburg - Karlsruhe would be awesome in TSW. I would also like to see an other TGV Route, perhaps from Straßburg in direction to Paris. If this is a possibility concerning the licenses of course
I am not sure, just throwing the idea in here - but correct me if I am wrong, but doesnt Morocco use French signalling and all on their highspeed route? Including the trains... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Boraq or this would be denied too cos SNCF is essentially the one who provides most of support?
The reason why we can’t get a license is very simple. Don’t guess any unnecessary reasons. The reason is that “the money has not been in place yet.”
I asked the question because I had already inquired about this from people at the SNCF (since I work there as a traffic agent in Paris) 1. Apparently, the railway engineering of the SNCF would be too advanced to be revealed in a simulation game. 2. This is a very public company, with the state as a 100% shareholder, and the French state is just not interested or motivated to sell licenses. → Today I know that having a St Lazare Commuter with Z6400 or with the current Z50000 would be extremely profitable for DTG and very salesy, but railway technology would block licenses. → And for the RATP, do we know if there are licenses requested in the future? Do you know what DTG plans to charge for a license, and why are they so expensive ?
Not just the state but also “Région” are very reticent to give a licence, try to ask the IDFM. I think it’s more an issue about safety, there’s a lot of intrusions inside cabs and it’s a bit similar to the MTA for licensing. For the RATP it’s quite the same problem, it’s a state owned company and they don’t want many procedures to be publicly accessible. So by exemple having a potential RER A or B which are operated by both SNCF and RATP would be impossible.
That's a shame then. I wonder if there are any French heritage or private railways who would be more amenable to an approach.
