So Riesa-Dresden is out and there might be a little easter egg in there teasing the next german release.

Many of you have seen the new ticket machines on the preview stream.

Well the ticket itself is interesting as well.

Apart from a nice detail where after pulling it out it shows the true in-game time of validation, it also has a QR link to the Dovetail website (sigh, expected something funny there), BUT UNDERNEATH IT...

    a bunch of route abbreviations.

    HRR
    SKA
    HMA
    HBK
    DRA
    and... D??
The first five all relate to recently released routes, so it is probably safe to assume the last one teases a new german release being worked on or in planning.

Well, it is time to speculate, folks! What could be "D??"?

Nahverkehr Düsseldorf (or whatever Düsseldorf) with ICE2 and finally S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr 423? Do they run there?

Probably Düsseldorf, Dortmund or similar big cities. I’m clinging to the small chance it might be the Donau-Isar-Express though. It’s “my” regional train line connecting the Lower Bavarian countryside to some of the medium-sized cities like Landshut, Plattling and Passau. Would be a great change of pace after countless German routes that just connect two big cities.

Dortmund would be a step towards a merged Rhein-Ruhr network.

I came up with a station on the border with Germany. Děčín main station in the Czech Republic. Railway track towards Leipzig.

There are loads of them all over the route. Quite a few stations have them by the entrance to the platform.

One would wish for some German diesel mainline to finally come to TSW, but I think Duisburg-Köln is a solid guess, it's about 64 km, so maybe some little sections along with it or parallel ways would be possible. 3 major cities and a bunch of trains usable on this.

Edit: Also two of those cities (and stations) have already been done.

Now I need to clean my keyboard because I'm salivating so hard.
Man, imagine Cologne all the way to Dortmund. Or why stop there? Cologne-Dortmund with a branch line Wuppertal-Hagen-Siegen-Cologne - when DTG fulfill this little big dream in 20 years, I'll be there to play the hell out of it.

I’ve got a few guesses, Duisburg - Köln is the most likely one in my opinion, a wacky but welcome guess would be Donaueschingen - Freiburg. Id also like Dortmund - Bielefeld or maybe even Duisburg - Arnheim. Possibilities are endless

I wonder, what if the first letter isn't the starting location but the type of the route. As it's been the case with many of these abbreviations.

I sure hope not, as it would be very similar to SKA, HMA and HBL and nothing new at all. It's basically a flat and straight passenger mainline, with the cities being the only interesting point.
But even if it was Duisburg to Köln, it would probably actually be called Köln - Duisburg, as DTG usually names the routes with the bigger city in the first place and that wouldn't fit the D??.
Well it's pretty futile to guess anyway, as there's just too many possibilites from such a vague hint.

Maybe that's a teaser for the upcoming deluxe route for TS 2022?

I don’t think so, but hey if the TS 2022 deluxe route starts with a D they could reuse it with TSW as they did with Riesa - Dresden

I don't think this D is supposed to reflect a city name. Normally, the type of the route is mentioned first (Hauptstrecke, Schnellfahrstrecke, Nahverkehr, etc.). But what does this D stand for? The only thing that comes to my mind is diesel, and actually only Kiel-Lübeck, which was the only non-electrified route from DTG for the TS so far.

Marschbahn would be a very nice and interesting diesel route if the D does mean diesel.

You can Sign Rostock and Warnemünde in the Talent 2 EMU.

Maybe Deichbahn Warnemünde - Güstrow? :D:D:D

Would be something new, but if you consider that DTG has only built already existing routes in Train Simulator for TSW, it seems rather unlikely.

If I remember correctly, there are IC-trains to Warnemünde in the Dresden-Riesa-Route, so that might be where that one is coming from. No idea so why Köln and Rostock are in the destination list. (Are there trains included, that go there too?)

Yes, some of the InterCity trains run to Köln...

Maybe it is in the end only a confusion for us, like the heavymetal band poster in SEHS with "Sounds like a Black Five", that had let us hope, that there will be a steam engine soon...

Route abbreviations are 3 letters long. D on its own is...Deutschland, as in the D on the sticker German cars have when they travel overseas. These routes are all from...Deutschland!

Well, that's true for DTG's internal project codes (Dresden is DBB-R7-08 for German, OHLE/OHLE, route, modern era, 8th instance). But the rest of the abbreviations on the ticket are the short-form name abbreviations: SKA, HMA etc.

    That's not quite True.

Bakerloo Line, SKA (as far as I know), Sand Patch Grade (as far as I know), NTP (TSW1), Certainly a few of the German routes, Cathcart Circle and a few others are all new.

So there are some new ones.

Not bad to have TS Classic routes in TSW right enough.

It could just mean the route starts with Das, Die or any other derivative of the article which translate to The in English.

Maybe The Mountain Line - what ever the German translation if that is

Does Germany use anything like... "Dieselstrecke"? Because it definitely could be a route type or route name, I just don't know any examples that would fit such a description. Therefore I assumed it has to mean a city name.

There are definitely some great diesel routes to add, Marschbahn being my favourite with how busy it is, but that one would definitely have an internal abbreviation starting with M. *sigh*

It could also... maybe... mean it's a DR era route, which could have that in its name.

    This one is veeery interesting.

Still like the idea of the "Dreiseenbahn", Titisee-Seebrugg, even it's a bit short. Dransfelder Rampe would be nice, also, Göttingen-Kassel Hbf in the 1960s, historic german routes are still missing...

You mean Duisburg-Oberhausen-Arnhem Railway that will be HDA Hollandstrecke Duisburg-Arnhem and is in my signature. HDK is Hauptstrecke Duisburg-Koln linking HRR to SKA Note that Dusseldorf Koln is in Train Sim 22. Another guess can be Hauptstrecke Dortmund Hagen with the Bochum Branch via Witten linking HRR with RRO HDH.

Sometimes there are marketing names for areas...

So whats about "Dieselnetz Südwest: Bingen - Kaiserslautern RouteAddOn"
The theme name (Dieseltrain network southwest) was used for marketing when the train services were improved in that area between Mainz, Kaiserslautern and Saarbrücken...

Edit: But when I rethink this idea... they are developing new overhead wires and cantenaries, so it would be senseless, if they make a diesel only route as next...

My guess is Duisburg Dusseldorf Köln via Flughafen Rhein-Ruhr or an International route from Duisburg the Duisburg Oberhausen-Arnhem Railway with Riesa-Dresden or Main Spessart Bahn giving DB BR146.2 layer since DB BR146.0 or Mixed traffic DB BR145 operate RE5 to Wesel pre 2016 Emmerich Am Rhein Station 15kv 16.7hz Sifa PZB LZB Germany meets 1.5kv DC ATB Netherlands pre Betuweroute 25kv 50hz upgrade.

I only know about the German routes after they appear in game so I have no idea what route it could be. I have to rely on the excitement of others to see if I should get excited too when they are announced. Because the letter included in the puzzle we have to solve is a D, I guess it will be a German city beginning with D that we have not seen in the game yet. If it turns out to be Duisburg or Dresden again that might be a puzzle let down if not necessarily a train let down.

My guess is Duisburg Dusseldorf Köln via Flughafen Rhein-Ruhr or an International route from Duisburg the Duisburg Oberhausen-Arnhem Railway. Riesa-Dresden or Main Spessart Bahn give DB BR146.2 layer for Duisburg Köln and Duisburg Oberhausen-Arnhem Railway RE5 to Wesel or Emmerich pre 2016. Reason for this is that RE5 uses DB BR146.0 some cases the mixed traffic DB BR145.

The only other major railway town with D would be Donauwörth otherwise perhaps something like Main-Spessart

P.S Augsburg Donauwörth is the only DE line with SK signals

You mean the Augsburg Donauwörth Nürnberg Railway. That one feeds to Hauptstrecke München-Augsburg a Benefit of that route is HMA ICE3 DB BR403s drivable to Nürnberg Hbf and Donauwörth from Augsburg Hbf.
