I haven’t see any threads/answers to this since it was mentioned, but on the July Roadmap Matt spoke about the next remaster that he was working on, but he never said what it was - at least not that I could tell!

I believe it’s something he’s doing personally too.

    Does anyone have the answers?

From a selfish viewpoint I hope it's Tees Valley with the 142 ported over.

I'm working on Clinchfield. But, it's had zero progress the last 2-3 months, so, don't set your watches.

    Matt.

    Thanks!

I think all our watches are synchronised, and set for a certain date next month..

In terms of the UK as we've been discussing, NTP or TVL would seem the most deserving next candidates.

A loco pack to subsidise the work (Class 25 for NTP, Class 56 for TVL) would nicely sweeten the deal too.

A Class 56 would be a deal breaker for me 100%. The possibility of a 56 on TVL would have me torn between wanting a remaster for that or NTP. I do really enjoy both routes.

If it is a UK route when I would hope BML or NTP. If they do another Cathcart and launch a new DLC with the "remaster" as mooted above then it would be very worthwhile in my opinion.

WCL would be great for a remaster, reworked 150 physics and a Valenta HST as a loco dlc would be amazing

I can back those choices. Both are seriously missing in the game (especially the 25 given how prevalent it was at the time)

You'll probably be waiting on Rivet Games for a WCL remaster, so i hope you brought a sleeping bag.

Remasters are a DTG thing, small companies cannot afford the mostly unpaid work.

In that case, I hope that DTG never decide to update or remaster Blackpool Branches. It would be a shame to see them destroy Just Trains amazing route.

That's completely out of question. Why should DTG remaster a perfect route that is not their own work anyway? They go back and bring their own stuff up to date, which is appreciated.

Because, sooner or later, DTG will want to update catenary or add ToD5, ToD6 or *** Insert whatever new invention DTG thinks all older routes should be upgraded with a few years from now here ***, and they'll break older routes in the process of updating them with the new feature.

"If it ain't broke, break it."

It's not up to DTG to update 3rd party routes, that falls on the 3rd Party devs themselves.

DTG would probably give a heads up on an update that would require a route to be revisited, but they'll probably let the 3rd party devs know in advance if a change is needed.

I don't think ToDv5 will come. They can tweak ToDv4's parameters (like JetWash did), but its therotical advantage is you are using real world lighting values, that won't change. The sun appears at 100,000 lumen on a clear day, which is exactly what ToDv4 is using. To make a lightbulb, all they need is feed the real world parameters into the blueprints.

Still the incompatibilities with ToD3 stock are an issue, and it will take a few more years until everything is one the same standard. I am therefore ruling out a new lighting system - it's simply too late, all assets must be tuned to it, and ToDv4 should've came much sooner when less available DLC allowed for more freedom to change things. (The conversion from ToDv2 to ToDv3 was much simpler, for example on SPG.)

The more DLC this game has, the more restricted you are to change anything. Ideally, the engine should become a final 1.0 (it's still 0.7b imho), DTG only needing to work on DLC.

Rivet wouldn’t know where to start!! This route should never have been released in the condition it was. Tarnishes DTGs reputation!

Although a more recent release, another one I would throw in the ring is BCC. They really need to go back in and sort out the missing/broken scenery south of Birmingham. For a traction pack, well I wouldn’t be averse to them buying in a reskinned 158 or 170 in Central Trains livery.

Extensions are outwith the scope of a remaster.

Peninsula Corridor. Matt assured me that one day we will see it. So I'll sit here and wait.

Maybe if somebody does a Calder Valley route in the future, it could link to the NTP ?

I know DTG Matt said that connecting routes is a nightmare prospect, because of signalling and other complications, but DTG might invent some way in the distant future.

Getting customers to buy two DLC routes with the gimmick of being able to link them together would be a good sales tactic.
