    Hello everyone!

To prepare for Friday's live stream, we want you to share all your questions you have for the upcoming Niddertalbahn route with us in this thread.

We'll have our familiar hosts JD and Matt, who are also be joined by Lukas and Edward as they worked closely on the route and will talk in depth about everything Niddertalbahn: Bad Vilbel-Stockheim.

Make sure you check out the Roadmap (https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/train-sim-world/articles/article/tsw-roadmap-march-2023) first up, where we have asked the TSG team a whole bunch of questions relating to the route, maybe even answering some of the ones you're thinking of right now!

If you have any requests, questions, or suggestions, then please let us know :)

I have a few questions about services:

    • It seems that TSG put some extra work in making different kind of services that do not follow the same recipe. Can you show us some examples for both freight and passenger services?
    • How many BR110.3 and Br 103 AI services does the route get? Can you tell us anything about them?
    • What kind of BR 628 services can we expect in Linke Rheinstrecke? Are they all full length side to side or are there shorter ones? Are there different patterns?

Speaking of the route does the Rangierlokomotive DB Baureihe 365 substitute on other routes that use 363 like Nahverkehr Dresden Bahnstrecke Dresden Chemnitz Werdau Tharandter Rampe and Ruhr Sieg Strecke Hagen Finnentrop Siegen or not? In terms of achievement does that loocomotive counts towards to the original Ruhr-Sieg Nord 363 363km level 10. Similar case is said for the following locomotives SD40-2 GP38-2. more recently Pressnitztalbahn Baureihe 155 counting to the original Ruhr-Sieg Nord DR Baureihe 250 1550km Power Surge achievement and Dispolok Baureihe 182 1820km True Taurus achievement

There are no player 110/103 services on the route, they are all AI only of trains either flying through or stopping at Bad Vilbel/Heldenbergen Windecken.

What percentage of an end to end journey will feature TSW3 stuttering and micro pausing?

He just wants to know the total service count that includes both ai and playable. We know know playable

I know it is all AI. I wanted to know how many and if the services just pass, or if they stop. Also would like to know, in case they stop, if some of them stay for a while (ie: a BR 110.3 freight train can be in a siding for minutes or hours). Little details like this make the rail network feel alive.

In the March roadmap, there was an interview with tsg and he said each service is different in their own way so it's not the exact same thing over and over again

I know. What I want are some examples of the different services and to know if they did the same with the layers at Linke Rheinstrecke.

*I don't want anybody on here to answer this, this one is specifically FOR THE STREAM (sorry for caps btw)*

How hard was it to implement the semaphore signalling and to make the signalling work? Thanks for answering this ;)

Sounds like a broken record for this complaint -- in about every thread. Sorry to hear you are having problems, but having been a user of the Train Sim World product every since Sand Patch was released, I can say from my experience, I haven't experienced any more stuttering in TSW3 over what it was in TSW2 and even then it wasn't distracting to me as it seems to a few in here. I am running on Ultra settings with frame rate capped at 60 fps. Running an Intel i9-12900KF with 32G ram and an Nvidia Geoforce 3090 TI. On my Laptop with a Nvidia with a GTX 1070 - I run at a reduced graphics level but still do not suffer multitudes of Micro-stutters.

It's a valid question for potential customers to know. My guess is that it will be the standard 40 - 60%.

It could be done by time. i.e. end to end route takes an hour and stuttering / micro pausing is seen during 20 minutes of a typical run.

What model of Indusi (phonetically roughly IN-DEW-SEA) is featured on the Br 365? I assume it's I 60, but it would be great to have confirmation.

Why this route and why set in this time period.
What made it stand out for TSG to make this their first route?

TSG have answered all that already. It basically ticked all the boxes that they were going for after all their brain storming.

Will any of the other shunters sub in for the 365?
Personally whilst I love the G6 I don't want to see it out of era on an AI service here

As the route is mostly single track, how do the layered in locos fit and how do they make the route busier. I guess I'm asking if I really need to buy the other route to complement this one.

" Please, this question is directed to the developers on the stream. No answers from the thread, if you don't mind. "

Had PZB 90 been rolled out to country branch lines already in 1991?

Some of these questions were answered in the march roadmap where dtg interviewed Maik and in the preview stream for Mainz-Koblenz.

The locos from Mainz-Koblenz layers in as ai only on niddertalbahn at one of the end stations where there is ohle. Yes, there is ohle. If there wasn't, it wouldn't layer in at all. Obviously couldn't run on the route since the route itself is nonelectrified.

Correct but in 2027 Niddertalbahn will be electrified to the standard 15kv 16.7hz AC like all TSW 3 electric German DB routes. The source is the German newspaper Kinzig News. If that were to happen Niddertalbahn will get DB BR463 RMV Decal alt paint version VVO VBB for Riesa-Dresden RE15/RE18s 365 will still do the Sugar Train

PZB90 was only introduced mid-90s, and even now not all of Germany has it.
Biggest difference are the different monitored speeds. PZB90 is wrong for the era for the BR 628.2, as also for LFRs BR 110.3 and BR 103.
Due to the low speeds on NID, and NID not having 500Hz, it should not make a difference.

Would you be able to drive the BR612 or BR112 on this route? I'd love to see the BR155 used for passengers in a RB Service.

The line is not electrified, so you can use BR 112 and 155 only in off the rails mode in Scenario creator.
BR 612 only in normal scenario creator, as it did not exist yet, when the route is set.

The 628 is no full route length on Linke Reinstrecke but a 20/25min drive from Mainz further on direction Koblenz. Is already confirmed in the preview stream Linke Reinstrecke

Just read the articles. You get the 628 DMU and the diesel shunter and then if you have the new Rhein route you will get some more Ai at the main station.

Will you have to get out the cab and go to activate some of the level crossings, like you would’ve had to irl when the route is set?

Has the 628 got correct sounds or is it aliased to the 612? Does it have correct Voith physics (i.e. unlike the dire Rivet 150/2)?

What I recall from the stream was that the 628 would do services between Mainz and Gau-Algesheim, where they diverge to non-electrified routes to... somewhere.

In current timetable, trains diverge there and continue to Kaiserslautern Hbf and Idar-Oberstein, maybe other places.

Oh boy, is that the truth?!!

Open discussion is fine in most threads, but when DTG calls for questions to be directed to the stream, the armchair quarterbacks should keep their egos in their pockets.

+1 I think it would be fun to have the timetable tell me to stop before these crossings, set them, stop again after, unset them, then continue on.

It was mentioned that this route will layer into left Rhein and left Rhein will layer into this one. I’d like to know more plus any other layering we will see in the timetable. Especially playable services.

    1. Please demo start-up procedures, including anything that is not necessary to get going but would be prototypical in real life (brake test etc).
    2. Please demo cab end switchover at the end of a service and beginning of another.
    3. Please show closeups of the scenery, in particular grasses and streams.
    4. Please show how to recover from an emergency brake.

Took me some time to find the link to the german forums. This is regarding to sound. Scroll down a little and you will see Maik explain he does not have original recordings which caused tension between members in the community. https://rail-sim.de/forum/thread/39263-tsw3-niddertalbahn-bad-vilbel-stockheim/

Thanks for that Rennekton. Have to say that is a little disappointing and it certainly does seem the majority of the German community share that view, running the forum through Google Translate. Think I will now sit on the fence as regards this, a shame as I'm sure the route itself will be first class. Comes back to what has been discussed before, particularly re sounds - if you can't resource the correct audio then should that determine whether or not the project is viable? As they said over there this isn't a freeware offering or something downloaded into Trainz where it aliases the Alco or GM - it's a payware DLC being sold presumably at the new £30 price mark.

So my question again to DTG on the stream - why have you accepted this for release without the correct sounds being applied to the 628?

I know you want a more official answer from dtg. I mean while sounds are important, it's not always possible to get real recordings. The sounds are still being finalized according to Maik. Certain German content like the 182 was synthesized. The sd70 didn't have right sounds cuz the recording trip got cancelled and there's not really anyone in the us who can provide engine recordings. I think some other tsw2 content also couldn't get a reference trip due to the pandemic.

It's really best to wait until the preview to see what it actually sounds like before making a judgment

The engine audio has been overhauled since the preview video. Internal sound is original (but not the best quality), external was changed also to something more reliable and does not sound like a 612 anymore.

And just to be clear. Deciding the ability to do a project based on the fact if you have sound or not would kill most of the content before someone is considering to create it. This is still a game, and we are working with mostly non-accessible real world stuff. To create anything we have to do a lot of magic or you, the players, would have not any content for the game at all and so the game would not exist. ist this what you want? Or could you live with having such a game but not 100% accurate audio? Decide, for your own.

I really respect your work, I don't mind to not have the real sound, even though it gives us a different feeling, but still the most important thing is, that this sound is enjoyable and doesn't make the same bug sounds like the trains who have been transfered from TSW2020 to TSW2, but I beleave in your hard work and I'm pretty sure, that everything is well done

Because those sounds are unavailable. Geez, some peoples' expectations just don't seem to acknowledge mundane reality: a sound survey can only be taken if there exists (1) an operational example of the train in question, and if so, (2) will the owners be willing to take it out for a run at great expense, with DTG sound techs sticking microphones all over it? Or, in this case, not DTG but tiny little TSG, which has even less pull. As Maik said: if the only locos released were those for which sound suites are available, train simming would have bloody few trains.

Unsurprisingly, such cooperation is not always forthcoming. Especially with an old train like the 628, of which there are few examples still running, and very especially since Covid, since DB is one of several major railways which no longer allows outsiders into its works or depots.
